OKAY SHE IS IN A TUB, WITH WET SAND ABOUT 12 IN. IS THAT OK OR SHOULD I ADD SOMETHING? I WAS WANTING TO BUILD SOMETHING FOR HER TO HAVE IN HER CAGE BUT I COULDNOT FIGURE OUT A GOOD ONE AMYBE HELP ME?
The tub is fine, however, I would change the sand for moist potting soil (PLAIN potting soil not Miracle gro!) The sand is a little too abrasive for the eggs. It would work in a pinch, but I prefer the potting soil. She can dig her den and it packs well so it won't fall in on the eggs. I wouldn't put this in her regular viv as you would have some major clean up after. Better to use the tub, then transfer her back to her viv after she lays her eggs. Good luck
when she is done laying her egg she will bury them and she will also look a lot more skinny then she was when you put her in the laying box. After you notice that you should put her in warm water for her to soak and relax and feed her if she wants to eat after soaking her.
As for breeding you need to get the female back up to the weight that she used to be at before laying the eggs then you can just put her in the cage with the male and things should happen. If your female already breed once and this is her first clutch then she will probally lay a couple more clutches from that breeding. The clutches are usually around a month to a month and a half apart.
Hope this clears some things up for you. Good luck!!
yes, from one breeding with the male the female can have up to 4-5 cluches of eggs because they can retain sperm for the next clutchs. some females don't do this but most of them do. If she dosn't have another clutch in about 2 months, or you can't see that she is pregnant then you can put her back with the male to breed again.
If you want to you can put her back with the male after she gains some weight back to make sure that she is going to get pregnant but she should have retained sperm from the first breeding.
If you have anyother questions just ask and i will answer to the best of my knowledge.
I was just reading the posts and I must admit I think that it is realy cool that the female can produce more than one cluch from a single breeding! I didnt know that. I think our beardies are so neet in all thy do.
