So when I took the "carpet" up to give a real good cleaning to the cage, I saw a pupae in there, I'm thinking i'm going to leave it alone and let it turn into a beetle. Is that ok to do? Then take it out and put it into the bedding after its a beetle?

Funny this happened to, this week i've been watching youtube videos and reading on how to care for, and breed superworms. I actually have just taken 10 out and put them into small deli cups already. Was really shocked today when I saw that pupae in the cage.

Also, is it true that they need to be at 80 degrees? I'm not sure I have a spot to keep these guys where its gonna be "that" warm all the time.

So is it okay to leave that pupa in there, and what are some tips you can give me on breeding superworms? (I'm not even sure its worth it)

Is it in the same cage with your beardie? If so then take it out. I dont think they can eat the pupae OR the beetle. Better safe then sorry.

Why not just take it out now? :?
You can just scoop it up with a plastic spoon you won't hurt it.
I don't believe that it will harm your beardie in anyway it is just not as nutritious while in either of those stages.

Well, it was myunderstanding that at that stage they have to be very warm? Its warm in the dragons, but I dont think I have another spot thats over 80degrees in the house.

I was gonna let them turn to pupae in the viv, then take em out as beetles, is that no ok?

Mine are in a rubbermaid box under the table. No special heating besides the ambient temps of my house, and they never have any trouble turning into beetles. Getting the beetles to mate and have babies might require some warmth (although I've got some baby worms crawling around in there too, but not many as I believe the adults eat them since I don't bother to separate) but to pupate, no extra heat's needed.

They will finish pupating fine at room temperature.
Although you will get eggs and baby worms at room temperature as well, I seem to get exponentially more baby worms if the beetles are kept at close to 80F (or at least a lot warmer than room temperature).

I think the other problem with this is when it turns into a beetle, the beetle will begin roaming around the viv. Your beardie will probably eat that beetle up before you even notice it and you will always wonder where that one went to. ;) Go ahead and separate it out and let it finish pupation in another container as suggested.

Hi there.
He really don't eat in his viv, infact tonight when I dropped some supers in there he just looked at me like..wow you want me to eat that ? :?

Anyways.. I now have 2 pupae in there from supers and 3 from mealworms. I'm going to have to take a pic to show you where they are, I dont even think he can get to th em if he wants to. They are where the rug starts to curl on the side of the tank behind is fake tree.. I watch them everyday and when I think its gonna be a beetle I was planning on taking it out. I really don't think they will live at room tempature here.. its actually pretty cool in this house.. usually keep heat on 68.

keeping them in there will do more harm than good, just remove it or atleast seperate it into a jar and leave it in there

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
