This Video shows my Beardie "gasping for air" and making some sort of sound what i want to know is if this is au natural or if i need to set up a vet appointment.

i notcoed him doing this a few times but aside from today this is the first i have seen him do this.

Did he happen to take a drink or have his face under water before doing that? It almost looks like he has water in his throat and is trying to gag it up.

If it only happened in the bath then I do agree with Gail! If not then you need a vet visit cause that could be an URI. See how your pooper is tomorrow, Good luck.. :)

I unfortunately have some experience with dragons aspirating water, and that's what this looks like to me. Keep a close eye on him. If he continues to do it, take him to the vet immediately. Even if he doesn't keep doing it, listen to his chest for sounds of popping or clicking that can indicate a URI.

Hello,

I agree, he may have aspirated some water down the wrong way. Just to be on the safe side, I would keep his tank a little warmer at night, say, around 80 or so, just to help boost his immune system a little bit.
As suggested, keep a close eye on him. Perhaps you could lay him on a very slight decline for the night in case he needs to have any fluids drain from his lungs. Not a very steep decline, just a slight decline like a 5 or 10% angle.

thanks for the replies ill definately take precaution. these past weeks he seemed to be brumating, ive got him inside due to the weather.

but these last few days he seems to have awaken and become more active now, so we'll see what he is up to. I am inclined to think it was just water down the wrong tube but i will keep an eye on it for sure.

PS what is URI?

Welcome back, Reece!

"URI" is "Upper Respiratory Infection" -- in simple terms, the beardie came in contact with too much moisture/humidity and the lungs are filling up with fluids.
If inflicted with URI, the breathing would be rasppy(sp?) and heavy, and you'd hear the clicking sound.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
