Is this lighting alright?

I just got a larger terrarium for my (rather small) 8 month old beardie. I have attached pictures because I want to make sure everything is alright. The terrarium is a little over17 inches in height and about 35-ish inches in width. I placed a UVB light horizontal, and a basking lamp to the side.

If you've uploaded the photos, you can post them to your thread using the XIMG button and they should appear.

Sorry if this is late, but I don't recommend putting the lights on top of a screen mesh. It can filter some light and the beardie might not get as much as it needs. You can put the lights inside. This might not be true with all screens, but there are some forums on here that warn this.

Lighting through the screen is fine if the lights are strong enough. What kind of UVB bulb is that? If it's a T5 then it's fine. If its a T8 then having it through the screen may not be strong enough.

If you need additional lighting depends on how much light that window gets.

Does that window get direct sunlight?

The tank shouldn't get direct light, that can cause it to heat up too much, but I assume the shades take care of that. It could still use an additional "white light" it looks like from the pic. Remember that these guys typically run around mid day in the desert in full sunlight. They are used to very bright light.

I'd consider adding an additional full spectrum light. See this thread: viewtopic.php?f=34&t=235017

The window I have placed the terrarium beside is facing South-East, so it gets quite a bit of indirect sunlight. I believe the light I have installed is a t8 10.0 uvb. I don't know how to mount the light inside the terrarium, so I have to settle for leaving it on top for now.

Yeah, the best thing to is is just plan on replacing it with a T5 10.0. I'd just leave the T8 until it's time to replace it (assuming under a year) and then move to T5.

What did you do, just take the screen off? If so, then yeah.

I'm not sure exactly what you did, but basically, yeah removing the screen from the portion over the basking spot will work. And really you don't need to remove the screen for the whole length. You could basically cut about an 18" section out over the basking spot.

There's lots of options really, you get the idea :)

Yay! Anyway, This terrarium actually has TWO screens that run the length of the terrarium, so I just removed one, and kept the basking light on the other :D

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
