Wow ok so i spray my beardie outside his tank some times, He play a game of running thru the mist. I never knew they got water thru there vent!!! i bath every other day for 20 min + - depending on spikes mood and how hes acting in the tub that day! I also drop water on his nose daily and he drinks when he wants to. My boy has had some intresting poo's in the past were he passed some gritty substance but he was fine the next few days so i didnt worry, If he keeps up you may want to have a fecal test done to make sure there are no parasites. GL and keep us updated with your little guy! (and his poo). hope he is healty as a horse.

Also, to sophiehawes: They are actually NOT sand dwelling animals. Their natural habitat is a very hard packed sandy earth, not loose sand. That is why sand impaction isn't an issue in the wild. Tile is much much closer to their native habitat texture wise than sand.

Thank you! I have said to so many people that Beardies Live in a Very Dry Arid Forest Type area, with hard packed clay/dirt, a little leaf litter, rock, bushes, ect.

I have had a similar looking poop in the past, but Tashi's urates were very hard. Still had the stringy thing on it though like yours. After a few poops it resolved and returned to a normal white. And I know Mustashio is a BOY!

Here's what ours looked like. (Dear Lord! We are sharing poop pictures! You know you are in love when you can talk about poop for hours! Sheesh!)

As for the yellowish parts, I have heard various things. Some say it is too much bath (? not sure I completely understand that, but it is what it is). I've also heard too much calcium causes some yellowing. And I've also heard that it can be a sign of some kidney issues. I doubt that the last one is the case since you just had a healthy check up. Anyway, take it for what it is worth. I'd just watch it for awhile. He (or perhaps SHE  ) looks very healthy and has beautiful colors! You're obviously taking good care of your dragon! And the sand and mealworm thing being an impaction risk...I thought that was only a problem when you are talking about babies, which clearly you do not have!

Hope this helps!

thanks, that was really helpful! :D

Sounds like your dragon might need a bit more water. If she's more than a year old, then you should be giving her calcium on one feeding only 3x/wk, so that might also be the issue. I soak my dragons almost every day for 20 min and even so my smallest dragon Didi was very dehydrated today, his urate was like a piece of chalk. I'm fortunate that he'll drink from a syringe as he drank more than 3 tsp of water today and that's with an almost daily 20 min soak. Some dragons don't absorb water as well as others, so that might be one thing to try, is seeing if she'll drink from water dripped on her nose. It's worth a try.

i already do all of those things regularly :\ keef seems to enjoy the baths and every couple days will generously drink the water... every time i feed keef, i drip water on his (her? ) nose, and probably about half the time, he'll drink it... i don't think i've ever seen him drink from his water dish in his tank, but then again, he won't do things when people are watching hehe

As for dehydration - how often are you offering baths? If you are bathing every 2-3 days, hydration shouldn't be much of an issue. :)

i give him a bath almost every day, and every couple days when he's in there, he'll voluntarily drink the water... otherwise, i just drip it on his nose, which he'll drink about half the time

keef really likes to dig in the sand in his tank... if i used tile, wouldn't he get upset that he can't dig anywhere? :\

this is his tank:

i don't think tile would work in there... since their natural habitat is sandy earth, would there be a way to simulate that with a material that he can still dig in?

Tile would be just fine. You can add a dig box if you'd like, with flax seed or alfalfa pellets in it. You just need to make sure it doesn't get moldy.

i use them for crickets... i rip them up and put them in the cricket keeper so the crickets have stuff to climb on/in and aren't just jumping all over each other lol

I use toilet paper rolls for crickets too because of the "soggy eggcrate" thing. Plus I feel like it keeps the crickets longer because they aren't all stepping on each other and losing limbs and stuff. It's like a cricket hotel! Our toilet paper roll supply seems to keep up with cricket demand and it works out great. Plus it is super easy to dump crickets out of the roll and into a baggie of calcium to dust! I never could get crickets to crawl up into those stinkin' tubes that come with the cricket keeper containers! And I love the double use!

Now that's a great idea, do you just lay them in the cricket keeper?

yep. i rip them in half and then bend in one side so that it's like a cup. they all gather inside them baha  i usually throw in 4 halves.

Good idea, I'll try that! I've run out of egg containers and I don't get that many at a time, only 40 for my geckos.

My dragons have that "extra" pinkish odd stuff in between the poop and the urate if that helps you feel bettee any?
I generally only see that stuff prominent when they poop IN the water. Im always like, oh my, is that part of their intestine ahhhh what?? In the water you just tend to "see" more for aoe, reson, the suspension in the water, the floating, etc .... but my girls are very hydrated and well fed beardies with good husbandry. if the poop is in the viv or on the floor if one of them is out walking around, i generally dont notice it. I don't really notice it because the water makes it so much more obvious.
Idk if this helps ....

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
