My first bearded dragon Toasty died due to incurable causes. My husband and I are looking to buy another beardie at the reptile shop. He is about 4-5 months old. But before we get another one, I want to make sure I am doing everything just right. I have a post in the "Feeding" section, I would be very grateful for your help. The dimensions of my enclosure are:
Height: 24 inches
Width:24 inches
Length: 36 inches
Sorry if the picture is angled, I took it with my laptop.
The basking spot temperature is 103.7 F
The cool area is between 70-80F
I am using a ReptiGlo 10.0 UVB 20W 24" 33% UVA 10% UVB
And a 75W basking bulb
(Regarding the ReptiGlo, I know many people are religious with Reptisun and I would have prefered it over the ReptiGlo. But the store didn't have anymore 24" Reptisun so I bought a ReptiGlo instead and in the next 5 months or so, I will switch it to a Reptisun)
I hope he can climb up to the basking spot. I put drift wood on the far left corner but I may switch it with the wooden half log. I also hoped that the beardie would like the two small fake stones to climb up to the basking spot. Those are actually aquarium props and yes, they are thoroughly cleaned. Toasty used to lov e climbing those before he became ill. I would like to add more items in the enclosure overtime so that the beardie would have more things to explore and play with. The floor is lined with paper towels. Also, there is a cave on the far left corner on the cool side for him to hide in (you can't see it in the pic).
I read that some bearded dragons loves to cuddle and sleep on cloth. I want to buy a fuzzy blanket that doesn't have loops so that he doesn't get his claws stuck in the thread. For now I have a t-shirt folded in there for him to sit on.
I hope this is a relatively good set up for now until we add new things.
