so i dont want to be constantly buying worms online so ive looked into breeding my own but there is no way i want to deal with moths/beetles/flys. since superworms and mealworms turn into beetles, waxworms and butter worms turn into moths, phoenix worms turn into flys, and nightcrawlers arent good for beardies. what are my other options? remember i live in canada so some things might be illegal, and dont suggest roaches for that reason!i just cant think of anything i can give my beardie as a staple that i can breed without dealing with bugs since i really like worms. right now im sticking with crickets and im going to buy some phoenix worms but i dont wanna be permanently buying these.

earth worms. those are the only worms i can think of that will not turn into any form of beetles or moths or flies. BUT... idk if a bd can eat it. Doubt it though.

Earth worms are night crawlers. They are the only true worms the OP mentioned, the rest are larval stages of other bugs. Unfortunately, the answer is no since "true" worms are not good feeders.

well what do the flys the phoenix worms turn into look like? if they arent to gross i might be able to breed those. they would also be a good thing to breed since there so healthy. a pic would be nice so i know what to expect and if itd be worth doing for me

if you go to google.com and type in "pheonix worm fly" and use the images tab you'll get hundreds of pics.

Remember, however, that the flies do in fact fly. The beetles that mealies and supers turn in to don't fly so they're usually easier to breed because of that. I actually once had a super successful mealworm colony going that started out as a complete accident. :p
Pheonix worms are definitely healthier for your beardie though, so if you can go that route and get it done then more power to you! :)

Usually, once you get into it and just give yourself time, it's amazing what we can overcome for our beardies. ;)
For example, I used to scream and whimper at even just the idea of feeder roaches. Then I only screamed/whimpered over the youtube videos of feeder roaches. Then I only screamed/whimpered at the adult roachies when they were 12 inches from my body. Now they crawl on my hand and I'm okay. It's seriously amazing.
I know you said the roachies weren't an option, but I'm just using that as an example that maybe, just maybe, you could eventually become okay with little beetles? :)

Good luck!

Phoenix worms turn into black soldier flys. I believe "phoenix worm" is a brand, not the species. All in all I believe they do that look imitation thingy of wasps. Scary, but maybe not gross looking.
