Is she sick?

For the past few weeks now, Bodhi has had the habit to stare off into space. I pretty sure this is all she does when I'm gone. Her eyes glaze over and turn really dark so I can't distinguish the different parts of her eyes. If I move her head when she's like this, she just leaves it in the position I move it into. The only time I do see her move of her own free will is when she's hunting (which most of the time I have to hand feed her), going to the bathroom, or when I'm misting her. Suggestions please?

Hi Kitty, how old is Bodhi ? Older dragons can become less active and a little bored so they may fix their gaze at one thing. Is it possible that his light is so bright that it's causing him not to be able to see much in other directions , kind of like if we look at the sun for a few seconds ? Post a pic of Bodhi's set up , showing the light placement. Also what kind of lights do you use ?

I don't know what brand her heat bulb is, but it's at 150w. I mostly positive that her uvb is a zoomed and 100w? She is around six months old. Also she has only pooped two big times this week, and her second poo looked really bad, but that's probably because we don't have very good veggies at our house right now except for apples and carrots. Sorry I didn't mention that earlier.

Can you ceck to see exactly what the bulbs are ? There should be writing on the neck of the bulb. If your Zoo med 100 bulb is a uvb, it has to be a mercury vapor bulb called " Powersun 100 " If it's not that then it's just a hot basking bulb with no uvb output. It's very, very important to know.

If she does not have a UVB on her for at least 12 hours a day, yes, she will become very ill and can develop metabolic bone disease. They cannot process calcium without the bulb. They can develop weak "spaghetti" bones and neurological problems. They have trouble holding up their heads to bask, and some never recover.

This is what happens to reptiles that do not have sufficient UV rays.

Yes, it is imperative to know what bulbs you have. I just wanted to mention too that in the first y-tube video that the guy meant well but that tank was way too small and the dragon should not have been on a rock or tile while a uvb bulb was blazing over him.....way too much heat with no where for the dragon to go. The second video did not show certain MBD but a very undernourished dragon which should have been fed differently, not so many superworms [ can cause a weak dragon to vomit ] but softer, easy to digest calcium dusted bugs and lots of hydration.

I tried my best to find appropriate videos. Either way, it's not good for a dragon to have no UVB.

Yes I know, I apologize that it sounded like I dismissed them, the first dragon had a spinal deformity for sure so yes that was definitely helpful. I just thought in case anyone seeing that set up might think it was good to do it that way. But yes, you pulled up a very good one to show what can happen..

So her uvb bulb says that it contains mercury in it, which I think is what we were hoping for? She's sleeping right know but this is her when I got home.

It may be a mercury vapor bulb. Can you tell us the brand name or find a picture? Also she looks very healthy so that's a good sign!

I agree that she does look healthy. Check to see that the bulb says Powersun mercury vapor on the neck, then you'll know that's what it is. I think if it says mercury on it you probably will see the other words. But she looks very good !
