Is she alright?

I'm worried about my mothers bearded dragon, Cassie.

She isn't the same sandy color as my male beardie?

Here is a picture of her.

4ft Vivarium, 100w basking/heat lamp, and a reptile UV light, 60w I think. She has plently to climb on.

Does she look out of the ordinary?

Thanks!

She looks a little dark like she might be a bit chilly, but other than that she's just a normal color for a beardie. Is she housed with the male or on her own?

I agree with Jen.

Two of my Beardies look like that in the Morning but once they Lights have been on for a while and they get some Heat they "Color Up."

Thanks both for your comments!

She isn't housed with my male, I don't want to put her through the mating process as she was rescued from a man who didn't hold her much and just bred her (She has come a long way)

I'll look into raising the temp on the thermostat a bit.

Thanks again for the assistance :)

Looks like she's in need of a shed. That is probably why she's scratching her head. What are your temps, and how are you taking them?

I'll let you know the temps tommorow because my beardies are sleeping here (UK). My mother uses a digital reptile thermometer or something?

Thanks

So I've just noticed throughout the day, she doesn't spend hardly any time basking?

I checked the temps and the basking spot is 90-100 Degrees Fahrenheit.

Is she too hot? Is that why her color is off? I never see her basking, and when I put her on her basking spot she stays there for a while, then moves.

Any advice?

Thanks

What UVB are you using? Also how are you measuring your temps? What kind of thermometer?

I'm using this

I'm not quite sure about the UVB, but when I touch it, it's quite hot. I know she got it from a reptile shop in town though.

I asked about the UVB, not the basking. The UVB should be a tube bulb. She should have more than 1 bulb on her. One basking and one UVB.

Yeah I know.

The UVB is long and at the back, but it is hot to touch. The heatlamp, at the far right of the tank is at about 90 degrees.

1x UVB

1x Heatlamp

For my male beardie I bought a home for life pack, came with everything for him, and he is doing fine.

But with cassie, some of her items were pre-owned.

I can buy her some better items in a couple weeks, what do you suggest?

UVB is just like this, but longer.

I think mum might have the Thermostat connected to the UVB plug socket instead, which in turn is heating up the UVB, would that be the problem?

The UVB bulb won't heat up much to be honest.

I'm in the UK as well, and Mistyck is asking about the UV bulb because some brands are not suitable for bearded dragons due to producing the wrong wavelengths of UV ray. If you can tell us the brand of the bulb that would be helpful. (Coil bulbs also aren't recommended)

Just in case, either the Arcadia 12% D3 UVB is good, and equally as good is the ReptiSun 10.0.
These aren't sold in the standard shops (Pets at Home) here, I get mine off this site: http://www.reptiles.swelluk.com/

Your temps seem fine, anything around 90-100F on the basking spot is acceptable for adults.

As for the problem you have with no time basking, that could be due to brumation that adult beardies will begin to experience during these winter months. If you don't know what this is, have a quick read of this article: http://www.beardeddragon.org/articles/brumation/

Basically, your beardie will be getting sleepy, or lethargic, not eating and being a bit grumpy!

Hope this helps.

Thanks a bunch, I have noticed that she has become quite sleepy over the last few weeks. Is there any steps I have to take if she does go into brumnation. I saw some people put down small towels for their beardie to get comfy?

That website looks very good!

I'll be ordering the repti-sun10.0 from that site in a few weeks. we've had her since may, she should be fine for another few weeks right?

Also, just an option, if conditions are bad for Cassie, could I temporary move her in with Troy, my male? Troy is extremely passive towards me and highly energetic and I have all the appropriate equipment for him. This is last measures though, because I hate the thought of Cassie being hurt :(.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
