Is paper towel really a safe substrate?

I am asking because my 7 months old beardie just ate a chunk of paper towel while chasing a cricket! I couldn't stop him from swallowing it. Has this happened to anyone before? It was almost the size of a Canadian quarter. Will he be able to pass it I wonder if this is what caused the first impaction because I remember seeing a piece missing before and I just thought it ripped off from him running fast on it but this time I actually saw him eat it because he missed the cricket. Has this ever happened to anyone else?

Well its probably best to feed in a seperate enclosure for feeding. My beardie once ate a chunck but it passed right through her

I am getting tiles next week but this just happened tonight... I hope it ill pass through. I doubt the stomach acid will eat through paper towel.

Porter has eaten a little chunk of paper towel several times - never seems to have any effect on him. I did start removing it during feeding though.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
