Hello everyone
I've been doing some reading about the location of UV light in a viv, and I started to worry that maybe my light is not close enough. Here's a few pics of my setup-
As you can see, he seems to be happy with it
The light is a 12" Reptisun 10.0 in a cheap walmart fixture. I've measured the distance from the light to his basking area, and I get anywhere from 8" to 10" (as you can see, the driftwood varies in height).
I've read recently that the light needs to be within about 6", but I was afraid this would burn his eyes. Is this true? If the light needs to be lowered, I can do that fairly easily. I've also read that adding some simple reflective material near the light almost doubles the output. Has anyone done this with their fixture? Are there reflective fixtures available?
Also, one more question- I house-sit often, and his tank is 55gal, and is not easy to lug around. So, I decided I'd set him up a little 10 gallon "travel" viv to make this easier on myself. Is there any problem with this, as long as his light setup is ok?
Thanks everyone
