Hey y'all, I'm a first-time beardie owner and I've had my young man for about 3 mos now. I got him from a friend who got him from his uncle, so I don't know too much about his background, but I worked at a reptile place over the summer and my coworkers estimate my guy to be a lil under 2 years old. I didn't measure or weigh him when I first got him, but I measured him today and he's exactly 15". I live in a college dorm and don't really have any weighing device, so I'm stuck kinda judging by eye if my orange fellow Jupie is too skinny.
I've currently got him in a 75 gallon a couple of hides and basking spots, he's got a helllllaaa hot lightbulb and it's cooler on the other side (degrees in the right ranges too), I've got the right UV lights, newspaper as substrate but I supplement his burrowing area with the paper litter used for rodents, so I think it's no problem with his environment. I read on http://www.beautifuldragons.com/Nutrition.html that he should be eating less superworms and more greens and stuff, so I've been giving him mostly butternut squash and collard greens, which is probably why he dropped his weight. He seemed to be almost brumating a few weeks ago so I kinda left him alone, but it also might have been him shedding, anyways, I was feeding him way less because I figured he was gonna sleep. He's not like that anymore and if I wake him up and feed him he's super energetic and runs up and down the stairs and climbs the window screens so I'm not too worried about him being sick. Also, he shed recently and seems to be shedding again.
I guess my question is, what should I be feeding him right now? I bought more superworms today and gave him about 10 with the calcium dust and stuff. Should I just be feeding him way more worms or something? Can anyone help me "appraise" him by eye with age, gender, morph, overall health, whatever?
Here are some pics of him when i first got him:
And here he is now:
(I'm sorry these photos are **** quality but so is my phone)
also here is a bonus pic of him after skittering up a window screen:
