Is my beardie fat?

My beardie is very healthy, he's active, has good bowel movements, eats well, is bright, etc. But his tummy seems kinda big, it sort of hits the ground when he holds himself up. I don't know how old he is (pet smart told me he was younger than he really was, so any guesses would be appreciated) here's a pic

He's about 12 inches long from head to tail and this was before he ate

no - he's fine.

However - I notice he's on a very gravelly bedding - NOT GOOD - he's at danger of ingesting some of that stuff and becoming impacted - VERY SERIOUSLY. I suggest removing his existing bedding and replacing it with a safer bedding ASAP.

It looks like he has a full belly but he's a good size. He still isn't fully grown yet so he should continue to get plenty of bugs and veges if he'll eat them. Is that an Exo-Terra sand mat as your substrate?

That's a big solid piece with just a rough sandy looking texture so it should be OK. Several folks use them without a problem.

Oh yeah I haven't had a problem with it so I'm not worried, half of its tile because he likes to poop in one area so I changed that area to tile so its easier to clean. I used to use carpet but that just got way too annoying to clean all the time and it smelled

Yeah I agree about the carpet. I also use ceramic tiles for the same reason. Really easy to clean and they can be baked to sanitize them. Do you find the sand mat difficult to clean? Or is it easy to wipe down?

Its difficult to wipe down if he poops the urate leaves a big stain that you have to scrub. But thankfully my beardie only goes on the tile

That's good to know. It's good that he's trained to go on the tile. That probably helps a lot. I trained my guys to go on a patch of linoleum floor outside the tank which saved a ton of cleanup effort. Totally worth it =)

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
