I know you have to start beardies off with carpet so they don't ingest the sand you put in the enclosure and get sick but I was wondering when do you start that? He's still obviously a juvenile but I didn't know if there's a certain length or if you wait until they're adults. He's been digging a lot in the corner of his cage to lay down so I think he's sick of the carpet

My dragon is 3years old now and, has never been on any type of loose substrate. I will never put her on anything that would harm her.
Does your dragon have plenty of things to climb on? It might be boredom.

Agreed, none of our Dragons have ever been on loose substrate.

I second that suggestion on more things to climb on, and more hides and things.

Loose substrate is not worth the risk.
