So i got flu and i was wondering: Is it safe to handle your beardie when you're sick? Like, can they catch my bug? Today i've been disinfecting my hands before i handle his food and i just fed him superworms in his bowl. I like to give him an afternoon run around every day and a bath in the evening every few days so it would be sad to have to just do the basic feed/clean for a week or so.

(Im the sole caretaker for him and if you've ever had the full blown flu you'll know how little energy you have - handling probably wouldn't happen anway! :))

I'm not exactly an expert, but since humans and beardies are not related genetically, I would guess that your flu would have little or no impact on your BD at all. However, I may be mistaken. It doesn't harm to disinfect your hands and stuff, but I doubt it does anything. Get well soon! :D

Hope this helped, Peter.

Sorry to hear that you have the flu, hope you start feeling better soon.

No worries, your beardie can't catch it from you.

Excellent :) I figured i'd check - you can never be too sure. I just remembered that when i was at (an agricultural) college, if i just got a cold i wasn't allowed to handle any animals in practical sessions and had to go do theory elsewhere. I had very bad pneumonia as a toddler so my lungs are quite weak and i get colds/flu so easily - especially when i get really busy.
The plus side is that my b/f has to do all the cleaning and cooking for now - though im not sure how much of a good thing that is! Im pretty OCD about my cooking and he eats all his meat as rare as possible - he'd have his chicken still clucking if he could! :)

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
