My Poe has hated being in her cage ever since she acquired me.
I have obliged her by allowing her out of her cage as long as she wants AND as long as she poops first.

I am wondering how safe it is for her to be out of her cage?
I'm worried about her not getting enough heat or UVB from her cage to keep her healthy.
Is it safe for her to be out of the cage while I'm home all day?

Poe - Female
1yr 5mth
Pagona Vitticeps
635g

Habitat
55 g Aquarium
100wt basking (110°F at its hottest)
50wt ceramic heat emitter for nighttime heat (84°F at its hottest)
25wt Reptisun 48" 10.0 for UVB (6mths old will be replacing next month)
Cage carpet (replaced weekly)

Diet
25 Crickets (reduced this week from 50) dusted with Fluker calcium with d3 (4 times/week, Rep Cali multi-vitamins the other 3days)
Kale, Collard/Turnip Greens 3 times per week (Switched this week also from spinach, kale, baby lettuces)
Giant mealworms 3 times per week (3-4 per feeding)
Carrots (In a baby food mix)
Figs (added calcium)
Misted twice a day

Health
Seems normal, runs around the house and outside when she wants to, basks and sleeps most of the day.
Takes a soaking bath 3 times per week, washed with a gentle oatmeal, baking soda dog shampoo.
Loves to go outside (Usually once per day for an hour) and on car rides.
Loves to go outside and play in the rain.
Poop seems normal with plenty of urate in it. (2" solid green/grey in color with a 1/2" or urate)
*shhh* Sometimes sleeps with Dad at night.

Hi there. Poe sounds just a little bit spoiled perhaps? ;) She is almost 1 1/2 yrs old and I have to say that the 110 reading sounds like it may be too hot for her. Usually beardies that age, prefer a basking SURFACE temp of between 100 to 105 at the highest. What type of thermometer are you using and where exactly are you getting the 110 reading?

When she is in her tank, where does she prefer to spend most of her time? Are her colors bright and her belly & chest without stress marks when in there or does she look uneasy & unhappy?

A 55 gallon tank is only a foot wide so she may not have enough side room. Have you thought about getting her a 40 gallon breeder that is 18" wide or something larger? That would give her more options and perhaps make her more comfortable.

It's good that she spends about an hr a day outside but would be a good idea to figure out why she isn't happy in her tank because she does need time to digest, at least 1 1/2 hrs after eating and to soak up some UVB rays.

When she is in her basking spot, what is the distance of the UVB to her? Would you be able to post some pictures of her setup for us?

UBERSPOILT ... :)

Might be too hot. Drop the temps about 5degrees F.

Too much bathing , is NOT NECESSARY and only needed if they've soiled themselves, shedding, too hot, or impacted.

PUK/BUK CHOI is excellent , high Ca, Dandelion and nasturtion greens and flowers are excellent too , high Ca.

Mine spend at least a couple of hours each out to roam about inside the house, get upset if they aren't let out .

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
