Are super worms as big as that? I thought they were like the size of the smaller ones in the first bin

Yeah super worms are like meal worms on steroids lol. They're huge, that's why they can be fed to adult dragons as staples, and that's why they shouldn't be fed to young dragons.

First pic are mealworms, second pic are superworms, third pic is an "alien" or superworm pupa. Superworms are a good staple for bearded dragons so long as the dragon is at least 16in long. So, you would have to get an adult if you don't have access to any other types of feeders. Mealworms, on the other hand, are really no good for beardies as they lack nutrition and are difficult to digest.

The third one must be a mealworm pupa, as that is what they are feeding the anole. What I thought were supers seem to actually be mealworms.

So it seems like the main problem is solved then. I was reading through the superworm breeding thread last night. I think I might buy some of them at the weekend and get a breeding setup going. That would give me several months to track a BD down. I did find an ad online from February 2009 from someone trying to sell some baby BD´s. So there are some on the island somewhere.

i feed my dragon like this
monday crickets
tuesday veggies
wed pellets
thursday veggies
friday crickets
saturday veggies
sunday pellets

the pellets fill in for crickets on some days.
only cause our pets store runs out sometimes.
but my girl just loves those pellets...
hope that might help?

Wahoo success!!! Went to the petstore and they sold me 20 superworms. Got a container and some wheat bran and oats for the substrate. I have that about 2inches thick. Made a some holes in the lid and put coffee filters on for grilles. So all in all I am well happy with todays progress. The plan is to leave them in the tub for a week and fatten them up a bit, then next weekend separate them for pupation(sp?) :D They were pretty cheap too, 3.75€ for 20.

I got some pictures, but they all buried themselves straight away.

The petstore are also going to try and source me a BD :) They said they have never had one before, but they will contact their sources and give me a call on Mondya or Tuesday, which in Spanish time means Wednesday, Thursday. Two weeks ago this looked like a dead project, now it is well truly in full flow. :D

OFF-TOPIC - The pupa that I saw the other day in the Anole cage (picture three on my previous post) is gone, but there was a little redish beetle running around. Is that a mealworm beetle?

Probably a superworm beetle. There's a superworm breeding post in the feeders section with pictures of all the stages, check that and see if it's what you saw.

Thanks - already read that thread. In fact I actually owe my purchase of the superworms to that thread. BTW they seem to be doing great, munching down the carrots in double time.

They are only feeding the anole mealworms I think. I´ve seen a few youtube videos on mealworm breeding and pretty sure its a mealworm beetle now.

On a side note, I think I might buy the anole if it´s still there at the weekend. It´s been there over months now and doesn´t look very happy about it. It will be good practise for the BD as well, when I finally get it, they´ve still not called about that.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
