So,
I have now had Hero for two months and he has trippled in size. Loves his crickets, phoenix, wax and butter worms. The base of his tail is getting thick. My questoin is: How do you know if your beardie is getting a little plump? I know they can become over weight, but are there any things to look for to show I should cut back some of the more fatty worms? I want him to eat as much as he wants and I get him to eat a bunch of crix before I give him any worms. I usually give like 30-40 crix and two wax worms and two butter worms in the AM and in the afternoon he just eats crix. He also has a good appetite for greens. I like him plumping up just don't want to cause any health problems.
Thanks!

I would lay off the wax worms and butter worms. From what I believe they have more fat in them than most of the worms out there. Maybe just one or two wax or butters a week at the most. If he still seems hungry after you feed him crickets, I would give him some more crickets to satisfy his appetite. Hope this helps you out some.

Wax worms are high in fat - butter worms are not. I'm not quite sure how that rumour got started but it's untrue. Wax worms, however, are basically the equivalent of a beardie candy bar. A yummy treat, but you don't want to give too many.

As far as being able to tell if he's overweight, it's not always straightforward. Beardies are a stocky, thick sort of lizard and are meant to be kind of plump. If you could post a picture of him, it might be easier to tell. :D

Well it's not an exact conversion, but you know what I mean. :D If Chimera isn't getting fat then I wouldn't worry too much.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
