Ok... so heres the scoop...
I went to a reptile show on saturday and had to pick up reptiles for a petstore I work for and decided to get a little something for me. I picked up a female high yellow hypo citrus (i think) and a male that will turn out dark red as an adult. they both seemed fine at the show but i didnt have a chance to look over the female as the gentleman was busy with me and several others. (i know thats my fault...) So i get them home in an hour in a super warm vehicle and take them inside and put them in my tank. I then noticed that the female was very sleepy, lethargic, exhaling hard, and had a mucusy film around her "lips". I jumped on the internet and talked to about 50 different people and read about 50 different sites. All of which claimed the forbidden RI. And All of which said that she is too little to visit the vet but to raise the temps and I was recommended to feed her repta boost she refused to eat anything so i have been force feeding her the reptaboost and 6 crickets a day (3 morning, 3 night) She does perk up after the reptaboost kicks in. And now on day 2 she seems more perky (prior to reptaboost) not exhaling quite as hard - still does it but not always opening her mouth and the mucus that was around her mouth seems to be getting less. She has never had the bubbles out of her nose so im hoping it was still early on for her to recover and the guy never had a card or sign but the guy that runs the show is in the process of trying to get ahold of the guys phone # for me. I am new to beardies but not herps I currently have 2 6" beardies, 2 4-5" beardies, a ball python, a texas map turtle, and a blue diamondback terrapin.
I have ordered reptaid to arrive in 2-5 days as i heard good things about the product and it treats RIs and a slew of other ailments on a 10day treatment. So I was wondering how i know if she is looking like she is getting better. Like i said today i soaked her and she actually seemed more attentive looking at me and walking around a bit more. and last night she was no longer laying her head down and not moving now she sits upright with her head up which i think seems an improvement.
Thanks for any advice or extra tips and I look forward to hearing if she sounds like she is slowly getting better!
