Good evening all. I am excited to have a new friend. I have had my beardie for a week now. Unsure of the sex at this point. I chose to name my dragonYoshi.
I have a 30 gallon tank. A forest/tropical background. Half a log for shelter/hiding. 1 stick. Another whole piece of wood for basking. Carpet (green). 2 fake plants for hiding as well. I also have a basking lamp, a UVB lamp and 2 night lamps. So far he eats crickets (large) and collard greens. I have water bottle for misting as well. The cage humidity is kept between 25% and 40%. Temperature is kept between 100-110 degrees. How am I doing so far? ?
What kind of lamps are you using overnight? What are the overnight temperatures in the tank? If the temps stay above about 65 or so you don't need additional heat. In most cases I wouldn't boost the temps higher than the low 70s overnight.
I have both, coiled and tube, for my day and night lights. I'm unsure of when I should turn the daylights off and turn the nightlights on tho. When I see him move to the other side I usually take that as my cue.
I would set a routine using an outlet timer. Shoot for about 12-14hrs of daylight time with both bulbs and set them both to just turn off and on automatically. The actual times are more dependent on what fits your schedule.
