This morning our new baby beardie arrived from Annapolis Bearded Dragon. This is our first dragon and we're thrilled with him. He's almost 3 months old and is quite a big boy. Anthony of Annapolis bearded dragon kept referring to this baby as "an absolute tank" so we decided to name him Tank. LOL He's so cute and so sweet but still a bit stressed as he just arrived a few hours ago. Okay, onto the photos which really are not very good. Promise to get better ones in a day or two when he and I are less nervous. LOL

Looking out of his box:

In his viv: I hate how I can't get the colors accurate:

And finally his chubby belly :love5:

I gave him some water from a dropper and he drank quite a bit. He ate 5 little crickets and took a piece of green from my hand and a small sliver of squash but so far that's all he's eaten. I will offer more crickets a little later and he has his bowl of greens. Should I give him a bath today or let him relax and do that another day?

Awwwwwwwwwww.

he is very handsome! He does not have a single stress mark on him!

How does your son feel about him? Is he as excited are you are?

And check out that belly!!!! How cute!! :blob8: :blob8: :blob8: :blob8: :blob8:

The purpose of the bath is to hydrate them, but if he has already drank from a dropper, i wouldn't worry to much about it.

Laura,

I would give him a bath just to make sure one his skin is hydrated and two he gets all he wants to drink... If he's not thirsty he will just look up at you, but if he's thirsty he will be head down like a dog...

On a separate note with pictures, try to take pictures on a contrasting background like white paper or blue cloth. Both colors do a wonderful job in bring out the colors, and make sure you have as much light as possible... Recently I like to just place a piece of printer paper on my coffee table and take pictures in my living room since I have a skylight, and sliding glass door that provide a lot of light!

Hope these tips help, and I'm glad you like your boy!

Oh my! I see why you call him Tank. He looks absolutly enourmous in your sons hand. What a cutie! Buttercup drank a ton out of her bath the day we got her. I'm sure it was hot in delivery van. How are you coming with the viv?

Thank you everyone. I can't get over how much I love this little guy. He's just so sweet and cute. I just gave him a bath and he did drink some water so that's good. I do think he is going into shed soon as his head especially looks grayer than the rest of him but you can see some yellow at times coming through. I can't decide if he liked his bath or not. He just stood real still at first and then started moving all around the container. He didn't look stressed but he walked around a lot so I don't know if that's good or bad.

Anthony, thanks for the tips on taking photos. I will try taking pics on a different background next time and see how that goes.

akingsley Thanks for your nice words. He seems to get a bit stressed in his viv, more so than when he's out of it. I suppose he just needs to get used to it. I feel bad seeing his stress marks but I don't want to take him out too much. He hasn't eaten anymore crickets, just the 5 original ones. Again, I suppose he's just adjusting to his new home.

maxattack Yea, he's pretty big. So cute. My viv is coming along slowly. I am going to a reptile show/expo on Saturday so I plan to pick up some more things there to decorate it and some things to climb on. Plus I want to get a temp gun and some more lighting. Otherwise it's fine. I have a 40g breeder that I did partition a little bit off of but Anthony feels he could use the whole cage without it seeming too big so I am going to take out the partition.

Anyway, thanks again guys for the nice comments.

O wow! He is huge! You must be so excited. I think mine is going into shed too, he looks a little darker today. Mine eats like a pig, ate most of his greens and about 25 crickets in one sitting! Tell me how night one goes!

yea that big boy doesn't need a partition, he needs his territory haha. Great looking dragon, looks extremely healthy.

flinters I'm glad yours is eating because mine hasn't eaten any crickets since his initial 5. Hopefully today he'll eat some. But his first and now his second night went well. He slept like a baby (is still sleeping now) and just looks so darn cute. Brought him outside yesterday for some nice warm sunshine and he seemed to really enjoy it. I put him in a box with some shade and sat next to him and he seemed very calm. No stress marks and seemed interested every time a bug would fly overhead. Today I'm off to a reptile show where I'm going to get him an MVB which I'm hoping might help with his appetite. Plus I'll see if I can pick up some fun little toys for his viv. How's Ernesto?

hockeyballz Hey Todd. I'm going to take out the partition today after I get back from the show. I want to get his some more stuff for the viv there first. I think he might enjoy the extra space actually. Thanks for looking and thanks for that great viv. I'm so happy with it.

Your little guy is so cute. I'm glad he's eating well and getting fat. You need to post some new pics for us to see. My little guy still isn't eating well. It's so frustrating but he's definitely shedding now and I hope that is what is affecting his poor appetite. Other than that he's so cute and sweet. I'm going to take some new pics today of him and I'm going to officially measure him and weigh him.

Here are two more pics from when he first arrived. The first is with my middle son and the second is with my youngest son.

This is one of my favorite sites for finding names: http://lowchensaustralia.com/names.htm Browse through it and I bet you come up with something. When I'm getting a new pet or whatever I usually look through it or my baby name book and make a list of possible names I might like. Then when the pet arrives I sit with the list in front of them and go through the names on my list to see which one fits. It's fun. I love names. I also have a couple other good name sites bookmarked so if you want more links let me know.

Tank fits him well! I was expecting a smaller baby to see, LOL Very cute!

Give him some time and he will eat (and eat and eat) ;) Sometimes they don't like to eat when you are looking.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
