Babies definitely have bigger appetites than adults! They should be allowed to eat as many crickets as they will in a 15 min period until they grow up. Then the amount of protein should gradually decline as they eat more salads. While adults should definitely eat a lot less! 10% of their diet should be protein at that point, and they should eat a lot more salads.
Congratulations on your new baby! And welcome to the forum
When Pudgy came to me, she was living in a meth house, so her diet was never "proper" and I had to just get her to eat. I was so used her appetite (which wasn't much) that I am still so impressed by beardies who really eat! Especially the babies!
Doctor Zhivago Einstein seems to have a hearty appetite, though he was only ever fed crickets and lettuce (the people who had him didn't have time for him and were not educated on enclosures, feedings, etc.). He's 2, so thanks to this forum I am armed with knowledge on how to stabilize his diet. So far he's dived in on the butternut squash, red pepper, collards, mustard greens...and has tried a tiny bit of carrot and banana (only as treats). He also had worms for the first time and did well!
I am still learning to balance the protein part.
Thanks for the info and sorry to hijack the thread!
