Introducing......Saphira!!! WITH PICS!!

Today i picked up my first bearded dragon from the Mid Atlantic Reptile show, and its a girl! Her name is Saphira (from the eragon movie) and she is 15 weeks old! It was a 2 hour ride down to the show and on the way back she rode on my shoulder for the whole way! (sorry no pictures of that, too busy watching the road to snap a shot)

But here are some pics from when we finally arrived home!

Then she decided to run away and gave me "the look" when i called out her name lol:

lol Now for some questions!

The only thing thats worrying me, is shes been pushing herself under he basking branch in the corner of the tank and scratching with her front and back right feet, and also constant scratching of the glass. the first thing that came to mind was it looked like she was trying to dig and my mind immediatly jumped to pregnancy, but she too young to have any eggs right? if anyone has any insight on that it would be great lol!

And as for the scratching im guessing she does it before she goes to sleep? If so she is just getting comfortable

well she wasnt really sleeping earlier, but she is now and she did scratch around to get comfy, i think before she was trying to rub the remainder of her shed off of her. i tried putting a small towel in for her to lay on but she started nibbling at the fibers so i took it out lol.

CUTE BABY! Congrats. And, yes, she is too young to be carrying eggs. She's checking out her environment and probably a little nervous as well, give her a few days and she'll settle in. Many dragons dig a little and glass dance, they also rub in the sand or on their logs to help remove shed skin. I think the digging is a kind of hunting/scavaging type thing.

thanks! i instantly fell in love with her when i saw her at the show, she was lounging on the owners shirt and was doing so all morning! i was surprised when they said she was for sale, she looked so comfortable with the woman that i thought she was a personal pet of hers! I think me and saphira are going to get along wonderfully

Woke up last night and decided to check up on my little girl and this is how i found her:

i was so tempted to take her out and let her fall asleep on my shirt since she looked so cute, but figured shed be mad at me for waking her up lol
