I really can't wait to see pics of your kids. I bet Taz is gorgeous and Kaira is getting huge. Abi, stop beating yourself up. I think you're worse than me. LOL You are doing everything right. Her slower shed is probably because she WAS a little dehydrated at one point. I'm sure they're both fine. You really need to take your advice you gave me and relax, enjoy them. I know, easier said than done.
Well, I made a huge mistake. I'd been so tired from the cleanings, the worrying, school, and stress in general, that I fell asleep an hour before they were supposed to go to their appointment :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: . I was so mad and worried, I just started crying when I woke up and saw the time. I called, frantically, asking when the soonest time I could get them in was...Wednesday was their answer if I wanted them both seen at the same time :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: . Which would be cheaper, but I don't care, so I asked about just Kaira...Monday :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: . I made both appointments, but Kaira will be going Monday. I feel so stupid and I'm so mad at myself.
Neither one of them are doing bad, they're both doing really good, but I still feel horrible about it.
I think I have a reason to be beating myself up now. :(
Despite the constant cleanings, and I mean never-ending...I feed them, they poo, take them out of their cages, clean everything, put them back in, clean the spare tub, feed them, they poo, clean everything, put them back in, clean the spare tub...yeah that's my day...I get a few breaks, but then it's time to eat or time to clean...anyways DESPITE that, Taz is settling in and Kaira is as sweet as can be. Taz doesn't "freak-out" much anymore. I've seen Taz in his cage without any stress marks at all within the last two days and he doesn't mind being touched or held. He's becoming as spoiled as Kaira...he likes to be fed his silkies by hand  . I really don't mind though, it's my time to bond with him. It is a bit difficult to hand-feed both of them though. It's hard enough getting silkies "free" of their "frass" (silk, waste, food mixture), but then to have to start with Kaira or Taz, feed them as many as they want by hand, leave one or two in the cage (this is usually more for Taz than for Kaira, because he does get a little freaked out if our hand is in "his space" for too long and then he won't eat), then I move on to the other one, feed them as much as they want and by the time I'm done I usually end up having to throw a few more in the cage for Taz (washing my hands in-between every switch). That's my life lol. I truly am beardie :whip: lol. I love them though, they're my babies. The extra work isn't easy, but I make it through and Lucas has been helping a lot more since he saw how much of a mess I was Friday lol.
We'll get there. At least I get to spend some "quality" time with them, even if it is drying them off from a bath or hand-feeding them worm by worm lol. I know that Kaira would eventually get off her hammock and get the worms herself, but for me, that's "our time". Taz needs to be hand-fed a little bit, it's really been helping him get used to us.
How's Tank doing? Eating?
That was long, sorry! :D

Abi - i use a thermometer with a probe (finally) i just got them yesterday... and i feed him baby food because he wasnt eating ANYTHING for about a week so then i was searching through some forums and i saw that you can feed babyfood to dragons that arent eating well so i decided to buy some... he is actually eating some not alot but some... he is starting a beardie belly lol not very big yet but... at least it is there... when he stopped eating his belly was almost completely flat... and good idea about the search on repti glo lol i should have thought of that

I'm glad he is getting the beardie belly lol...they're cute :D

jscott,
Nice to hear from ya! :D How's LG??? I'll check his updates in a minute.
It really has been a full time thing. Just having Kaira was a bit of a chore, but now with Taz too...well it's been crazy. I have chronic health problems and just went ahead and dropped a class so I could concentrate on my health and watch them...I don't have to leave them home alone for half the semester. I just hope everything gets straightened out and easier by then.
Thank you for complimenting my care for them. They are doing good right now. Both of them are eating really well and are getting used to having to be transferred to a smaller tub for a period of time several times a day.
I know you've been through the worries and the constant care and concerns. I wouldn't ever give up on them (not that they are in that bad of health that I know of, even if they were, I still couldn't give up on them), just as you have LG, and you guys have been through so much more.
Thanks,
Abi

Oh Abi you must have been so upset. But they're doing so well that I'm sure a few more days before seeing the Vet will not kill them. Please try to relax. It sounds like they're doing great. I'm glad Taz is relaxing a bit and Kaira is sweet as can be. You must be so exhausted. I can't believe your routine. I got tired just reading about it. I don't think I could do all that. You are one incredible beardie mommy. You should pat yourself on the back. Really. You're doing more than most people would do to ensure the health of your babies. Now take care of yourself so you don't get sick. Too much stress is no good, as you know.

Tank is doing fabulous. He's up to eating between 45 and 50 crickets a day!!!! He's going to make me broke since I still get them from a pet store but I'm so happy he's eating. He also is not nearly as stressed looking as he used to be. I have found that he loves running "wild" in my family room. Keeps me on my toes as I'm so afraid of him getting behind something. But he likes his freedom. LOL I also weighed him the other day and he gained 3 grams. I know that's not a lot but I'm thrilled that he's finally growing. :blob5:

CJ: I PM'd you.

That's great! I'm so happy he's eating. My babies love PWs, they really seem to stimulate their appetites from what I've heard. I wonder why he didn't like the silkies so much...possibly because they don't move too much and if he hasn't been eating then he may not a more "active" feeder to get his attention. Keep me updated! :D

CJ, that's fantastic. Yey, for Phoenix Worms. Poor Tank hasn't had any in a while because I ran out. I'm waiting to go to a reptile show next weekend to get them. I'm so glad Boomerang is finally eating. And PW are so good for them because they are high in calcium.

Laura,
Thank you! Those are from awhile back when we first got him...he's shed since then and has developed this "weird" pattern...it's pretty unique (at least to me lol). I can't find any more recent pics of Kaira on my computer, but I love that one because she's looking directly at me. Her color is coming through nicely too. She's in full shed right now, but she has orange just under her ears, a yellow body for the most part and "blue" side-bars.
Something is wrong with my camera or computer...I can't load my pictures from my camera onto my computer :angry5: . I'll try again soon. I have some really cute ones of Taz sleeping and in one Kaira looks like she's got a beardie smile :D . They're so cute. I just can't believe how big they've gotten. I weighed Kaira two days ago and she was 120grams...she had just eaten though (compared to the 19grams she was when she arrived, I just keep praying she continues to put on the weight, with the coccidia and everything). She's just about 13" long. Taz is up to 48grams (he was 14grams when we got him) and pretty close to 11" now...he's got a really long tail lol. I think Kaira got a nip or she's just getting older. She's going to need something bigger to bask on...two large hammocks aren't doing the job. I'm afraid to put anything else in there though, due to the coccidia. Any ideas? I need something really easy to clean and non-porous but big enough for her. I'm also worried she may get too big soon and the hammocks may not be able to hold her lol.

I can't wait to see some recent pics. I want to see that "weird" patter of Taz' and Kaira's smile. 120g...WOW. I can't believe how big she is. That's great. I don't have any suggestions for replacing the hammock. Most things are porous that I can think of. I think Tank is going into shed though I'm not sure. That could explain his stress marks lately and his lack of appetite yesterday. Though this morning he ate about 40 to 50 crickets in one feeding. (small ones).

Well it looks like I might be taking Kaira back to the vet sooner than expected. I found something "odd" in her poop. I gave her squash, which she hasn't had in awhile and I'm hoping that's all it is.
I'm going to try here soon to get the pics posted, hopefully. Life has been crazy and I haven't had time to figure out what is wrong with my camera/computer yet. I need to figure it out soon so Tracie can take a look at what I saw... :puke: . I'm really worried now.
Yeah, I can't find anything big enough for her...I'll figure something out.
Taz has stress marks today too. It looks like his legs are getting ready to shed again. It would explain Tank's lack of appetite (from what I've noticed with Kaira and Taz, they eat more than usual and then half as much the next day and then it's back to more...and then evens out).
That's great though! 40 or 50 crickets, even small ones, is a good sign. :D

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
