Hey guys, so I've heard some saliva in the mouth is usually an area of concern (for a respiratory infection).

I just fed Rey, and while she was basking she had her mouth open and I spotted a string of saliva. Outside of that string inside of her mouth I haven't noticed much else. Should I expect saliva after feeding her?

She is getting her second dose of Ponazuril this Sunday for coccidia

thoughts?

She looks fine to me. A little bit of thick mucous isn't unusual. I'd offer her some extra water while on the meds though to help in case she gets a bit dehydrated. Her mouth looks nice and light colored. Teeth look good based on those photos. I don't see anything that stands out as an issue.

Yeah, she's still being stubborn about taking water, I think she's taken water once in the last 2 months from a dropper/spray bottle lol. Her poop has been well-hydrated as well as there being a small puddle that she likes painting with so I guess the dubias/some greens are hydrating her enough.

Good. Yeah that just means she's getting enough from food. Will you have a chance to check out the Lilac Festival this week?

I might have time on the 10th or 11th to check it out, still not sure. I want to get at least one day in though!

Okay...so I just heard her 'click' when she took a breath.

It only happened once so far...I'm not sure how often it happens for it to be a serious concern. What should I do in the meantime? Since that click may means she has a URI?

EDIT: Okay yeah, she just did a little wheeze/click thing a second ago

On a side note, relative humidity is between 25-35%

I just put a dehumidifier in my room...apparently my room's humidity was 62% (It's only 7x12 so that may explain how it got so humid) :banghead: I'll leave that thing running till it's 30 tops

Hello,

The inside of the mouth looks healthy to me & as suggested some saliva, etc is perfectly normal. :D
The intermittent clicking that you may sometimes hear could also be the glottis opening & closing as she breathes but not necessarily a respiratory issue.
Though, it would be a good idea to try & keep the humidity down some so the dehumidifier you got should help that out.

What should I be looking out for in terms of catching URI in its early stages? More frequent clicking/wheezing? That's the only time I've heard the light Weeze so far so I freaked out a little bit

Hello,

A respiratory infection would cause an off colored mucous in the mouth as well as possible build up in or around the nose, like she had a cold, etc. The wheezing, sneezing or coughing would be much more frequent too.
Is she acting lethargic at all?
How is the humidity now, stabilized?
Let us know how she is doing.

No lethargy from what I've noticed, especially when she's out of the tank

Humidity in my room is around 40, assuming it's that high since the room temp is low 70s. Humidity in the tank shows 28 on the dial and 30 on the probe

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
