Hi guys!

I'm still fairly new to this so I apologise if this seems a silly question.

I am aware I have to feed him live insects but I have a bit of anxiety around it, did this go away naturally or is there anything I can do?

Also with the calcium powder I wasn't really told if I could put it on his normal food (veg, mealworms etc) or how to apply it to insects. Should I be putting it on normal food and when do I start giving it to him? He's 5-6 months old.

Thanks in advance!

.... sorry but if you want to have a lizard for a pet, especially a dragon , then you have no other real option but live insects as a STAPLE protein source if you want to have a happy and healthy pet lizard. I COMES WITH THE TERRITORY. Canned insects don't cut it, frozen insects don't either, is unlikely a lizard will eat them.

Mealworms are a very poor live food choice and shouldn't be given to a young dragon at all, not even as a treat.

Your best choices are
BSF Maggots (phoenix worms)
silkworms (in his case small (= 1.5 inch long) and medium (= 2 inch long) silks are fine
blowfly gents (but they pupate and turn into flies FAST)
crickets
roaches
locasts

Dusting with calcium (and with vitamin powder) is easy, collect the insects to be used in the meal (he'll require TWO daily meals of live insects) , place them a bag or small bottle with a teaspoon or so of powder in it, lid on, shakey shakey, done = dusty bugs ready to be eaten.

Can also lightly dust the salad too , I don't bother, but some do.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the reply, I apologise if it made it seem like I wasn't going to feed him insects, I do plan to I was just wondering if anyone had initial anxiety with it.

I only purchased mealworms as I was told by the reptile store I bought him from that they were the best choice.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
