Insane Wall Dancing

The past few days, my 9 inch juvenile beardie has been wall dancing like crazy! When he does, he's not hungry, and he's been coming out of his 15 gallon cage three times a day. Could he need a 40 gallon breeder now or is something else wrong? He only dances when I'm near him.

Well my girls always dance when either A) There are some leftover crickets bugging them in their tanks, B) They want to come out/are not happy with something inside their viv. Bigger is better with tanks and you will have to get a larger one anyway so I would say your best bet is to take your beardie out when he/she dances and buy a bigger tank when you get the chance.

I agree, I just transferred my beardie yesterday afternoon to a 50 gallon tall enclosure made by black sand (36in wide by 18in tall by 12 in deep), and although he is still doing glass walking from the transfer (and partially because i have his tank temporarily on the ground), whenever he starts walking i try to pick him up (despite his squirming). I take him out and put him on my leg, and he sat there for about a half hour. The large tanks work out great for them.

You need a bigger tank.... Minimun 50 gallon for an adult they need room to turn around. Yours is 9" and beardies grow super fast if healthy and fed properly

Actually my friend has a 22inch male adult that lived its entire life (he got it when it was 8weeks) in a 40 gallon zilla critter cage. This will be just fine for an adult. The main thing with beardies is floor space. And the 55 and 40 have the same floor space, usually 36" by 18". The 55 gallon is just taller usually. So it is good for some extra branches and climbing decor. This is the cage im using based on his recommendation and so far shadow loves it. Almost never wall dances unless he sees the cricket shaker with crickets in it, or he wants to play wit me. So 40gallon+ imho.

Too small.. I got a 18" Male in a 40 gal. breeder. 36"x18"x16" L,W,H.
He wall dances all afternoon unless i take him out.
Its time for a bigger enclosure for me minimum 4'x2'x2'...

actually, a 40 gallon has more floor space than a 55 gallon. 40 gallons are 36"x18" and 55 gallons are 48"x12". that's 648 sq. in. for the 40 gallon and only 576 sq. in. for the 55 gallon. not to mention that the 12" width on the 55 gallon is too narrow for an adult dragon.

Thats right. I meant 50 gallon . I'd go with a 75gallon 4'x18"x20".
