Injured or sensitive.?

Nova's tail has always been sensitive. From what I can remember, I'm fairly certain it's always been sorta stiff and will twitch if you touch it in a certain spot, but it's gotten more prominent. This morning, I was petting her and went down her tail, and it twitched hard enough that she pulled away. Only in one spot, the same spot in the video, right where her tail goes from the fat part and thins out a bit. It otherwise doesn't seem to bother her, outside of seeming like when you hit a nerve in your leg or something that gives you that jolty-twitch feeling. Could it be an injury.? I don't know how, she's lazy and never does much. She does have a kink in her tail, we're assuming it's an injury from birth, she had it when we got her but it never seems to bother her and it's barely noticeable. Or could it be a bundle of nerves or something.? It's almost concerning to me

It could be either, my oldest male has always had a kink also and he has always been way more picky about touching his tail than my other dragons.

Lots of beardies don't like their tails to be touched, some don't like any type of petting. Some mammals + birds hang out and groom each other but most reptiles don't. So it's just something to avoid, even humans can be picky about that or ticklish .

She generally doesn't mind being pet, she tolerates it but it seems like that specific spot, she ALWAYS twitches and her tail gets super stiff. That's normal.? Her kink is a little farther down in her tail.

If it doesn’t seem to bother her without you touching it, I’ll bet it’s nothing serious/ life threatening. If anything she just doesn’t like her tail being touched in that one spot specifically! I would look and see if this happens to any other beardies, and if so, you might be able to find the cause! Good luck! Also, what a pretty girl!!! ❤️❤️

That’s entirely possible.. might just be a pet peeve.. I doubt it’s anything bad since she’s done it since she was a baby. If it’s gotten worse though then that may be a reason for concern..
It's definitely gotten worse, so to speak. More sensitive. Her tail would just twitch a bit and get a little stiff. Now, she jerks away and her tail will stick straight out, like in the video. It doesn't look injured or anything so I'm wondering if it may just be a bundle of nerves. We've only had her since October, the breeder denied seeing the kink in the tip of her tail but she's otherwise pretty chonky and healthy.

My paranoid beardie mom brain is worried. Do you see an exotic vet? If so, call and ask them if it’s something that you should be worried about. I doubt it’s anything serious, but it’s always good to look deeper into it.

They can definitely be ticklish, if ya don't believe me try tickling your beardie right where their back leg meets the body(on the tail side). I bet you either get kicked or your beardie takes off 😁

I'm a tad worried too but at the same time, it's hard to say. I'm going to call today and see. I mentioned it at their wellness check up but they were both being psychos in trying to get awaynfrom the vet so he couldn't take the time to really look at her tail close enough

Sounds like a plan! Please keep us updated!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
