Injured bottom lip?

Hello,

I'm wondering if anyone could offer any insight on what appears to be a small injury on my baby beardie's bottom lip.

Not sure you can see it properly on the pictures I uploaded, but it seems like there's a scale missing and the area seems to be turning black now. It started out by being like a pink colour when I noticed a few days ago, so I applied some baby polisporin but now it looks like it's turning black.

If there is a scale missing, do you think it will grow back eventually or is he marked for life? Is this something that will correct itself once he sheds?

I should mention he is a Rankins Dragon, but I'm posting here because I'm pretty sure it would be the same response as for a Bearded Dragon.

have you tried using a wet q-tip and gently wiping the area down(make sure to go with the scales not against) I had a concern like this a bit ago and it just ended up being stuck on feeder guts?

not sure if it will grow back if it is a missing scale however I do kNow with sheds it will heal (if it is actually an injury) do you feed crickets and make sure to remove all remaining crickets before bed time?

this site is very useful and there are actually other sections for other reptiles. So in short yes of course a beardie is a beardie:)

Hello,

This would be the same care as a conventional dragon, yes.
How is he doing this evening?
You can also try using some raw, unpasteurized honey on the area, to help with healing, too.
This can happen if they like to rub their noses on their tanks. I think, over time, that it will
eventually heal up though. As long as it's not affecting his ability to eat that he will be just fine.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
