Infrared light

My brothers just got 2 new beardies 9weeks old, one male one female. He's got a 100 watt uv light and a 75 basking infra red light basking bulb in a three foot viv. I've heard that infra red arn't good for their eyes, is this true? Also the two beardies have come from different locations, one ordered in because he wanted a high colour which is the male. The male is slightly smaller than the female and he's noticed on a couple of occasions that the female has nipped him when he's approached the basking area, is this something to be concerned about or is this normal territorial behaviour. thanks for your help Julie

the infrared light isnt good for them but i strongly encourage you to separate your beardies..i had mine together for 4 months and now my one has barely grown due to stress. they do much better on their own even though its cute to see them climb over each other that is a sign of the more dominant beardie saying your in my territory. also what kind of uvb light do you have?

If the female is already being aggressive toward the male, then she's currently the dominant one and may prevent him from basking or feeding, both of which are bad for him; she may even become more aggressive and actually injure him. I'd definitely suggest separating the two of them. There's also the matter that eventually the male will be ready to breed, and that will happen long before it's safe or smart to have the female bred.

Infared lights aren't exactly dangerous but they aren't any good either. During the day the dragons need lots of bright clear light (like the sunlight they'd get in their natural homeland) and at night they should have no lights on as even the red lights can disrupt their sleep and leave you with tired, cranky dragons.
