Infrared heat emitters

I've always heard to stay away from infrared emitters, because they would keep my beardie up at night. I've got the Zoo Med Ceramic Infrared Heat Emitter, and it wasn't 'till I checked the box today that I saw that it was "infrared."
It doesn't emit any light, so I had no idea. Should I get a different emitter, or is it fine if it doesn't produce light?

I have heard the same thing. I have one, too, but I turn it off at night. My ambient temperature doesn't cool things off very much. That's one of the reasons that I am looking at thermostats, though, because in my new setup I plan to use a radiant heat source. The enclosure is 4x2x2 which should be big enough to provide different zones.

Yes, the CHE(ceramic heat emitter) that you have is fine. I think you are getting it mixed up with the infrared "colored" bulbs that are not recommended at night, due to the light from the bulb disturbing a beardies sleep pattern.

The infrared is actually the heat that it is producing; not the light.
