Well yesterday a piece of my beardie's tail fell off
it was just a little folded piece she had since i got her, the thing i noticed is that she had a little part of her tail a little darker than the rest including the little nip that fell off.
At first i thought that it was just stress because her UVB light stopped working (which i got yesterday) or that it was just skin that needed to come off but just a few minutes ago i rubbed her tail with my finger and the black part of her skin started coming off but the thing is that after it looked like if the tail was bleeding because were i scrubbed the skin off is like a orange/red/pink color. is almost as if i can see her skin under the scales!

here are some pics

Plz help me out here guys.
Im working on getting my lil girl an appointment with the vet :)
I had put this thread on ER but didnt get many replies i hope i get more replies here. :)
So far the only thing i ve been doing is putting some honey on her tail o and i forgot to mention that i started putting a lil bit of aloe vera mixed with the honey to try to reduce/stop the infection meanwhile i get the vet appointment.. :blob8: :angry5: and i was also thinking on putting some Hydrogen Peroxide since the infection hasnt spread. O and ive also noticed that the infected part of the tail is somewhat healing. is not pink/red/orange is darker like when u get a crust after a cut.

Hello,
I can't see your pictures. I would not recommend peroxide, I've heard it can be painful. My beardie lost a piece of tail last week, after several week of the piece drying out. My vet told me to let it dry, it will detach by itself at the right place, at the right time. Until you get a vet (or someone who knows more) opinion, I would suggest to let the injured part dry.

Good luck!

my little bearded leaped out of my hand around this time last year and messed up that part of his tail as well but he didn't get tail rot or anything. i watched him very closely and took him to the vet twice. around June or July this year that part of the tail fell off. he had damaged that part of the tail which caused the bones to break severely and eventually it fell off. i was given an oral medication and an anti bacterial gel for the open wound. please take your lil beardie to a vet and get it checked out 100% it will make a big difference having a professional check them out and get back to us on here

Actually, I went through what you're going through right now with my Beardie.

When I bought my baby Beardie (Fiz), the tip of his tail was chewed. It just looked rough and chewed, and I figured it would heal so I just left that part of the tail alone and went about my business. Two weeks later, the tail had completely dried out. It was crusty, crispy, thin, frail, black/dark, and hard (trying to create a good visual picture). One day when I was holding him, he went between my fingers and the tip of the tail rubbed on my hand, and then it just snapped right off! Of course I was devastated, and nearly freaked out when it happened. When it fell off, though, he didn't bleed, nor did he seem affected by it at all. (It was just an abrupt stop, as if someone had sliced the tip of his tail off. A flat edge. But it was just fleshy on the inside. All the nerves on the end had died, and his body had made sure that the chewed tip would die and come off without affecting him). After it fell off, I gave him a bath in warm water (as I normally would), took him out, dried him in a towel, and applied a glob of neosporin all over the open area. I did this for over a week until it had healed up. Now it doesn't look like a slice, it's now just a nub. I too fretted at the thought of it being tail rot, but it's been a month and everything's fine. I guess I was a good home nurse/doctor

I don't reccomend using Hydrogen Peroxide, though. Not only does Hydrogen Peroxide burn (If you've ever gotten a cut, you know the sensation when you put the peroxide on it), it's just not good for them. I wouldn't reccomend it (although some people have used it successfully, it doesn't mean that you should use it). I had much success with Neosporin, and I have been told by a few people on here that it's fine to use on them (I wouldn't use it on any openings like their eyes, ears, nostrils, etc., though)

As for the darkening when you take her out, it may just be because when you take her out she gets a little cold (all reptiles get cold when they come out of their viv, it's part of being a cold-blooded animal) and she turns a darker shade. Most Beardies get darker when they are cold, since darker colors attract/absorb more heat. Or, it just could be the lighting in your room, meaning it looks lighter in the viv under all the light and darker in the room you hold her in that doesn't have so many lights on.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
