Incubator questions

I have a few questions. Does anyone know any ways to create an incubator, I'm trying to save some knew but my bearded is going to lay eggs and I want to be prepared.
Which substrate is best to lay eggs on in incubator?
Best temperature devices for humidity and temperature inside?
Any tips & information you know can you please let me know. This is my first time mating and I want to know more about this before it happens.

I think building an incubator may be pretty well the same price as buying a standard still air hovabator, as you would need a herpstat and a heat pad for the homemade. The hovabator has done great for my dragons eggs. I hear vermiculite is the substrate of choice but I use perlite as I had it on hand, it just needs to be re-wet once a month as I use shallow dishes for the eggs.

What temperature in incubator & humidity level ? I'm ising the HovaBator 1602-N Incubator with hatch rite. Also anything else I need to do this is my first time ever trying to breed.

I set my hovabator to read on the thermometer 84 degrees ferenheit. Hatch right should work great, I'm unsure if you have to wet that substrate or not. I haven't measured humidity so I can't help there unfortunately

I just used a plain old chicken egg incubator and kept it at 84 degrees F. I used very moist vermiculite with perlite on top so the eggs had the vermiculite underneath them (which holds moisture) but the perlite is better at wicking away moisture so it kept little droplets from forming on the eggs. The chicken egg incubator I bought had little indents in the bottom to put the water to keep it humid in there too. I got the vermiculite just wet enough that it would stick together but not so much that it would drip when you squeezed it. Now I have 27 little babies
