Incandescent for basking? Need advice ASAP.

My basking bulb blew. I have another but only a 60 wtt. I am going to go today for a new bulb. However I have read incandescent clear bulbs are great as well. Then I have read no they aren't. So I am looking for some sound advice. I live in Canada we have cold temps coming on soon and already starting actually. If he has to have the basking bulb I will pay for it but if I can save some $ by using incandescent ....even better. I just bought this bulb last month it's a zoo med basking spot 100 w.

You can try the 60W. Do you have something to check basking temperatures with? It might be difficult to get the temperature high enough, especially if you have a taller viv.

I have a 100g it's 5 ft long. I usually use. 100w basking. I am using the 60 w right now only because I had it from before. It is def. not strong enough. His temps are too low.

I generally buy a 4 pack of spot lights (for indoor recessed lighting) for about 12 bucks. They last a long time and even a 65 watt bulb can produce really good temps in a bigger viv.

That's generally what I buy, I put a dimmer on mine so that I can control the temps.

Thanks got your post while standing in Walmart. I bought the halogen. Just hope it will fit my domb
