My bearded dragon gets a bath every wednesday night for about 30 minutes or until he wants out. Last wednesday after his bath, he went directly to the water dish in his cage and has been in it for a full 24 hours! Sleeping in the bowl! He drinks water through a water dropper if I offer him water. I would think he would just drink from the water bowl since he has been in it for 24 hours! Should I be concerned? His diet consists of crickets and Kale. I dust the crickets with a multivitamin reptile powder. I'm very worried my dragon is sick. Any suggestions???

You shouldn't keep the water dish in his tank. He could drown in his sleep, or get a respiritory infection. Since the water's pooling around his tummy, it could be stealing all his heat without him noticing and making him to lethargic to want to get out. Since he doesn't drink out of it anyhow, it's just becoming a germ farm and a humidifier he doesn't need.

I agree with the previous poster. I don't understand what could cause it. Is he shedding or about to shed at all? Try giving him more frequent baths in case he is dehydrated. I give mine one every other day or so.

As for the cricket dusting, multivite should be offered about 2 times a week. You should also be providing Calcium dustings 5 times a week. This can help prevent MBD. Additionally, some good staple veggies are mustard greens, collard greens, escarole, and endive.

Hope this helps.

Hi - How long have u had your Beardie for? It's not entirely normal for them to be so thirsty or to sleep so long unless it's brumation time in your neck of the woods, so I'd be looking at your temps (too hot) and diet (too salty perhaps). There's a questionnaire to fill out but I don't know how to put it up , maybe someone else can? If u do remove the water bowl, please look at & maybe sort out your temps first - u don't want him to dehydrate, although unless his vent was in the water, he's not absorbing it. Is he eating normally as well?, as they receive a lot of the hydration from their live feed also. Keep us up to date :) .

Hi hjp- Welcome to the world of beardie slavedom. They can drive you crazy can't they? He could just like the feel of the dish. Barbar's Checkers loves to brumate in his dish all winter! Of course there is no water in it. I still can't figure out how he curls up and fits himself in there!?! :dontknow:
If it were me I would take him out and empty the dish. I doubt the humidity is such a problem this time of year but, yes he could be breeding all kinds of germies in there and you don't want him to drink it now. ewwww! You can put the empty dish back in, just in case he feels comfy there.
He may need more frequent baths because the humidity is soooo much lower in the winter house.
What are your temps and how do you take them? As the others said he may be too warm.
On a food note, try hin on some cilantro, mine can't resist it and it is really good for them. It's cheep and will give a bit of variety. Mustard greens are good too. Of course, depending on where you are mustards may be hard to find. Lots of folks here say their dragons love butternut squash. You use a food grater on it and use it as a salad topper. :D
If you could tell us a bit about your set up and your dragon's age and size it would help us, help you. Oh, and what's his name. I know it doesn't matter with the problem, I just like to use names, for dragons and people too. :D

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
