Daily Herald paper from Illinois
A West Dundee woman ordered to pick up roadkill as punishment for stabbing two pet lizards had her sentence changed Friday because highway officials won't let her do the job.

Sara Tinsley, 38, pleaded guilty in May 2008 to an animal cruelty charge alleging she stabbed two bearded dragons belonging to her estranged husband, killing one of the pets.

Although the case's prosecutor suggested Tinsley be sentenced to community service in an animal shelter, Judge Grant Wegner said he found picking up dead animals more appropriate.

But on Friday, Tinsley's attorney told Judge Thomas Mueller that she hasn't been allowed to pick up roadkill because authorities don't want to be liable for injuries she could sustain.

Although she instead did 15 hours service at a church, county probation officials wouldn't recognize those hours unless a judge approved a change in the sentence.

Mueller agreed to do so, and to allow her to continue to do work at the church.

Besides the community service, Tinsley also was sentenced to 18 months probation and to undergo an anger management evaluation.

Yeah! Someone had posted the original article last year.
Mental ward I agree is where she should be doing her anger management classes from! As how can anyone get so mad at someone that you could take it out on any defenseless innocent animal.
