In Case Of Fire..!

I always thought I was the type that was prepared for ANYTHING.. Until today.. when my apartment building caught fire.

I can't impress enough how important it is to have a plan in place for evacuating your pets!! It was something I'd not considered until the moment I was awoken from a sound sleep to the sound of the fire alarm and the reek of smoke. My boyfriend was yelling what to do for Brock - and luckily we had a little carrier we'd gotten the last time I took him to work. He pushed him in there with one of his sweatshirts for warmth. I tore the pillowcases from our bed and shoved my snakes inside them. Then we ran like hell. I managed to grab my purse on the way out the door, so I had the keys to my car to warm up for the poor scaley babies. Good Lord. I hope none of you ever encounter this! But *please* have a plan in place.. just in case!!

I know that had to be terrifying. Glad you all got out ok. Was there much damage to your building?

When we had a fire (not bad at all) I went out with Lilly in my shirt and two dogs who thought they were going on walks lol. I must say, one of the hardest parts of the night was convincing the dogs to go back in the house without their walk.

i am so sorry you had to go through that!!! Thank you so much for reminding us all about it though. Its not something that crosses your mind too much. I live out in the country and we had a woods fire that was supposably right near my house, and it was then that i realized how SLOW i was at getting my animals out of the house... i'm still trying to work out a plan in case it happens agian... but with 3 dogs and 2 dragons its hard lol

Wow I am glad you all got out safely! I am terrified of that....and I am afraid that if that happens and time is very limited of what would happen. Of course my children would be my first priority and I am honestly terrified to think of trying to get the animals out at the same time as everyone else!!! YIKES! So many things to consider when planning for these things...although we never could plan I guess properly!

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
