Impaction???

Hi all need some advice, my dragons about 4 now and he's just got a area by the vent that's a bit hard and quite big to feel but you can't see it, just wondering what it could be I usually bath him 2 times a week and he poos in it most times so I don't know what it is? He has a 4 foot tank reptisun 10.0 heat lamp that keeps the temps at about 93 f and I'm afraid to say he's been on sand but that's changing this week to repti carpet
Any help would be much appreciated

93F basking temp? What are you measuring your temps with?

You want the basking area for an adult to be between 95 and 105ish.

It's a digital exo terra thermometer, the bulb was on a thermostat that's set to 100 so I've unplugged that and just ran the bulb normally and the temp is now 115 and rising so there may be something wrong with the thermostat?

I would suggest getting your temps to around 100. 115 and rising is much too high.

What does the daily diet look like?

I feed him twice a day, he usually eats 10-15 each time before he stops, that was about 1 and a half ago now it's about 7 each time. I also offer him Greens everyday.

Well if your thermostat is saying its one thing and your thermometer is saying its another than one of them is wrong.

I would suggest just getting a dimmer and playing with it until you got the temps you needed. Either that or mess around with a bunch of different wattage bulbs until you find one that works for your tank.

I would definitely keep up with the baths since it seems to be helping him poo. It will be a good thing that your switching off of sand this week too.

Ive just looked at a new digital thermostat with a temp range of 0-50 c so think I might try that when I get paid as the bulb I've got is capable of the tight temps, the thermostat I have at the moment is a habistat dimmer is that any good?

10-15 crickets used to feed a locust as well but the pet shop I got them at stopped getting the smaller ones

Yea I realised I've been abit stupid with the sand so the repti carpet Is the better option

I reckon il start giving him one a day now aswell

At 4 years old your dragon would likely like the temp to be more closer to about 100. Can you lower it to that?

Possibly but il have to try tomorrow as I've just turned his lights off for the night, the new cage carpet should arrive tomorrow so I'm looking forward to getting him on that

Yea gave him one about 2 hours ago he did one but it was a really small one and I can still fell a lump so I'm still concerned

You can try a little olive or vegetable oil to help him pass the obstruction, if that is what it is. Just put a little on his snout and see if he will lick it off.
