Impaction recovery?

My boyfriend's beardie, Curt, suffered 3 painful calcium sand impactions (he is no longer on sand, surprisingly didn't have a prolapse, but he was in quite a bit of pain). The last impaction he had was about a month ago, but last time I saw that he pooped (this past Monday), it had to be induced with a warm water bath and belly massage with a few drops of olive oil.. I saw him laying with his eyes shut in the warm corner of his viv and ignoring his crix so I had to do something. When he pooped, there was sand in it.. he has been on paper towels for a month. How long does it take them to recover? What else can we do for him?
He is 15" from nose tip to tail tip, and his basking spot is measuring at 80 degrees with a 60w Zilla basking bulb. What is the bulb wattage we need so that his basking spot reaches 100?

It shouldn't take very much longer than a month for all the sand to come out. Are you sure it was sand?

As for the bulb question, its hard to answer because it all depends on house temps, weather, the tank size. Basically, you gotta find out yourself with trial and error. Might I suggest one of the normal household bulbs instead of those expensive "reptile" bulbs. The household ones work fine and are cheap, you just gotta make sure it gets the temps you need.

hello mate.
80 is way too low. They need the heat to diguest their foods. You really need the basking temp to be around 105-110. To achieve this i would get a 75w or 100w bulb and try that.

Your dragon needs the hot basking spot of 105-110 [ as was mentioned] to get healthy...without it he can't function properly, and will keep him from recovering the way he otherwise would.
