Oh, too bad he isn't even interested in the bigger crickets, (as long as they aren't too big). Pepper would refuse bugs that he considered too small to be worth his effort. I hope he likes some of the other feeders.

Glad the reptisun works out for you. If you do decide to upgrade to the T5, Amazon sells the fixtures and the bulbs.

If any "large crickets" get in with my small, I'll only give him the ones that are more medium. If I have ones bigger than that, I usually take my cat into the bathroom and close the door and let him chase it for a couple of minutes. When he squishes it, I give him a treat and get rid of the dead cricket. I know it's not beardie related but it makes it so I'm not completely loosing money with them.

Thanks for the info on the ReptiSun! I'll check it out :)

If you want to mount it inside then yes, you will need to purchase a new fixture. There are under the cabinet fluorescent fixtures at Walmart for about $12. Make sure to take the thin plastic cover off the fixture if there is one (so there's nothing between your dragon and the light). You will also need something to hang it on. I use two Command Sawtooth Sticky Nail Hangers which will stick to the glass nicely. The fixture should have holes in the back for these to attach to. If you wants specifics these are what I use...

BTW, thank you for the tip about the Command Sticky Nail Hangers! They are so secure and easy to use! If anyone else is trying to mount their fixture, these are awesome!

Also, if anyone was wondering, I did return the ReptiSun terrarium hood. To be honest, it really shouldn't even be an option from ZooMed for the ReptiSun 10.0 T8. The T8 needs to be in the terrarium to work properly and the ReptiSun hood can't be put into the terrarium safely ( yes, I did attempt it ). It makes more sense for reptile parents to use a fixture from the Walmart or Lowe's that is better for the animal and costs way less. I got mine at Lowe's ( http://www.lowes.com/ProductDisplay?productId=4075998 ) and all I had to do was pop off the plastic cover and switch out the bulbs. It was way easier than I thought and only cost $11.84.

Yeah, zoomed really should make a fixture that can mount easily. The one they sell for T8 is still good if you don't use screen or have animals with lower UV needs though.

The catch with cheaper fixtures is the quality of the ballast. The one you got looks to have an electronic ballast so it should be ok - but some of the cheaper fixtures aren't intended to run special bulbs and may dramatically underpower them.

NEW PROBLEM
Now not only will he not eat anything, he is also scared of the crickets. I put one in his terrarium and he couldn't get away fast enough. I picked up with tweezers and held it near him and he started shaking his head and freaking out. The shaking was only after a tried to force a cricket but I can't help but have MBD at the back of my mind.

They love to scare us, don't they? Are the crickets smaller than the space between his eyes?
You might try removing the jumping legs from the cricket to slow it down. Some folks refrigerate the crickets for a couple minutes. That slows them down, too. Also, feeding one at a time may help. Have you tried dubia roaches?

Yes, the crickets are smaller than the space between the eyes. Everything I've tried to do with the crickets to slow them down doesn't work for him because he still gets scared. I put one in and he ran away. I tried feeding with tweezers like when I first got him but he was still scared. I have an order of Dubias coming in this week. Until then, I'm about to try and make a liquid meal. I need to get some calcium into him.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
