I've been lurking for a little while now and thought I'd sign up and say hello. I'm looking to get a beardie in the future but for now, I'm just trying to learn everything I need to. This should also give me time to ensure that this is what I want to get I used to do saltwater aquariums for nearly 30 years and I learned that it's always better to do research before getting into live pet hobbies. I've seen too many 'newbs' get in the hobby on a whim and then realize that it was more expensive than they thought and/or the fish suffer from lack of proper education on the owner's part.
My kids and I have a potential name already picked out and they're real excited but I'm making them wait and read up on things just like I'm doing so we can hit the ground running when the time comes. Since the beardies can live for so long, I want to ensure our new pet has a great start right from the beginning.
I'd like to ask a question here if I may. When I do finally decide to get my new pet, is it better to get a baby dragon or one that is more mature to begin with? I seem to get the impression that each has its own advantages and disadvantages.
