I'm so excited about my Dubias

I must be doing something right finally! I don't really pay them TOO much attention but I do peek from time to time and of course give them food and check on their water crystals. Yesterday morning I put some orange slices in and in the afternoon I went to check on them. WOW they were almost gone!

The exciting part was I just happened to lift up one of the egg crates and saw a female with an egg sac peeking out! :blob5: Never would I have thought I'd get excited about roaches breeding! :lol Obviously they are and things are doing fine.

I know when I first got the 2nd colony (from craigslist) there were a pair of Madagascar hissers and some of their nymphs. Can't WAIT for those to get bigger because the female of that pair died (not sure why/how). So the male has been "lonely" as he's in his own tank. I was tempted to move him into the dubia bin but I'd rather keep him in his own tank and then move any "bigger" hissers over with him later (when I can get my DD to do that as I will NOT TOUCH THEM! :)

I just wanted to share here because my other friends think I'm absolutely LUNATIC for keeping/breeding roaches! ROFLMAO

I was really excited when I saw my first female with an egg sack.... then the next day I saw an abandoned egg sack lying on the ground in the bin and I was sad. I have seen two other females with egg sacks, but also one other dropped egg sack since then... But, since temperatures were getting down in the 60's here, I bought a heating pad (it was warm enough previously that I didn't need one) and added a container of water to boost the humidity... Hopefully things improve now. I haven't seen many babies yet--I have seen a few but I had purchased roaches from someone on here and one of the females gave birth in transit (pretty exciting/surprising to open the box expecting 25 adult females and suddenly there's tiny ones everywhere), so the babies in my bin might just be those ones.

I don't know, but I can't wait til they start reproducing, because I am tired of crickets! Stinky, jumpy, commonly dismembered bugs. Yuck.

I think its funny how we get excited about getting roaches and breeding them. But if you talk to non reptile people they would just think your crazy buying roaches to breed hahahahaha.

haha, yeah. pretty much anyone i tell about the roaches just gives me a blank stare. they can't believe that i would actually want to bring roaches into my house - especially with the intent of making more, lol.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
