well my order of Dubia should be here tomorrow! I'm nervous and excited all at the same time (its my first time!)

I know mostly what to do as I've reaf 1000 posts on them and all the caresheets I could find!

I'm going to get them a 35 gallon tote with locking lid.... I have crystals & chow on the way with them.... I have a heating pad and screen ready to go....

going to get some fresh fruit to give them....

well hopefully everything goes ok cause these things are REALLY EXPENSIVE!!!!!!!!!!!! (only cause I had to ok a "Miche" purse party! For the wife)

well I finally made it home to unpack them! I think they all made it! I've touched a couple of the baby ones and Mushu seems to chomp them down!

haven't touched an adult yet... I'm scared!
I'll work my way up to it.....

they're creepy sounding running all around though....lol

my son is pretty cool with them... Now to see how the wife and daughter are!

You don't have to peel ANYTHING w/ these guys bud. Just cut them up in quarters and those guys will eat them down to the rinds! BUT ... wash the fruit or vegetable first to get any "bad stuff" off of it. Oranges, Apples, Grapes, Watermelon, Pine apple, Broccoli, carrots, pears, strawberries.... heck they eat it all!

its kinda crazy. We feed our BD in a separate tank. He can be done eating crickets and wanting back in his house.... If I drop a couple of small Dubia in there he makes a v-line right for them! Gulped down whatever I put in there!

I read through there & it doesn't say anything about wether to peel oranges or not....
I was the one that suggested adding a few chow recipes....


is it possible to have to big of a tote? I bought a 45 gallon one....
I put some pears in there and it doesn't seem like they touched them... Am I being to impatient? Doesn't seem like they are ever over by the food.... Maybe when I move the tote to check em out they dart back into the egg crates?

be patient. it takes a couple months to get the colony going. i'm running out of patience myself.

no need to peel the oranges, they'll kill everything including half of the rind
