I'm going crazy. (Conversations with my bearded dragon)

Just today, I just spent the last 20 minutes explaining the use of various articles of clothing, such as underpants and human society to my bearded dragon, Charmander. I don't think he quite grasped my concepts since he did a lot of blank starring and head twitching.

Then I set him on my chest while I was on my laptop. He tried to run off the couch. I had a stern conversation with him about running off and how he could get hurt, lost or I might hurt him while trying to retrieve him since he is still little(8 inches).

Dear Lord. :shock: I'm going insane but man, I love this lizard.

I talk to Vash all the time most the time he rather just sleep in his little tent looking at me like "shut up lady"
but I rather talk to him rather than have everyone think I'm crazy.

When I go to wake up Spike.. I open the door every so quietly.. and I say.. in a whispering voice.. "Time to wake up Spikey-toes.." When I get over to the viv.. I make sure that I wake her up with my voice before I turn on the lights. And I tell her "Good morning sweetheart." If she gives me an evil glare.. I usually leave and come back an hour later! Every night we have a routine conversation too.. when I tell her its time to go to bed. Whenever I am in there in the day I am talking to her nonstop.. asking her if she wants to go to the store with me.. or asking her if she wants to go outside. Trust me.. if you are crazy.. then we are all crazy!

Don't worry. As the others say, it's ENTIRELY normal.
Clothing is a weird concept to beardies - let's face it, every day, you change colours like some mental chameleon.

I ALWAYS say good morning to my lot when I go to work, and good night on the way to bed (takes a little while, there are six of them now!) and I often have a chat to them. Some days, the human in my house tells me off for paying more attention to THEM than him!

Just don't talk baby at them. They're smart animals and my guys always look at me funny if I'm "cutesy" with them.

I never thought much about it.. but I never baby talked to my children.. and I don't do it to the animals. It takes me about 30 minutes to say goodnight to everyone and make sure everyone has food and water.. especially since I have to check my daughters animals too. They are both so bad.. they will play with the bunny.. hamster.. guinea pig.. but not look at its water bottle or food dishes! By the time I am done.. the dogs that sit on my bed waiting for me are long asleep and in my spot!!

I have just the one dragon but I also take care of his cage, switch repticarpets, take his bed and blanket out and get them
all ran through the washer, I come back an hour later and the cat is on my side sleeping like a log.

Now if you start arguing with your beardie, and YOU LOSE, then there may be a problem lol. I talk to both of mine and watch tv with them. i carry on conversations about the family, my hubbies job, the dogs. I talk to the dogs all the time to, sometimes I swear they are rolling their eyes at me.

lol i talk with my boy all the time. he always tilts his head up at me and its very amusing. but i am not the only one in my house who talks with him. my mom and my sister take him out to play when i am not around and talk with him too. its quite funny to watch. like today i was talking to him about why he was so grumpy.
