I want to first come out and say that this is not a attack on rainbowbeardeddragons, and that's not what i want it to be.

So, my bearded has come back positive with the adinovirus about a month and a half ago. I haven't owned any other reptiles in my new place so it couldn't have come from anywhere else. The only thing i can truly think of was him having the virus since he was sold to me. Has anyone else that has purchased from the rainbowbearded breeders had problems? Haven't had any parasites, just the virus.

Now again, i am not trying to jump to conclusions and attack anyone, i am trying to find out if anyone else has had a beardie from them that was/is sick.

Also to the mods, i didn't know where to post this, so if you feel this would be more appropriate in the general discussions or something feel free to move it :).

I just took a peak at their Terms. Pretty blunt, guess that's where their "low-end prices" may come in.

"Our Breeders and currently available dragons have not been tested for Adenovirus.

All dragons are represented Honestly, and I conduct business in a forthright manner. All Dragons are guaranteed to be healthy and feeding well at the time they are shipped. Since I have No Guarantee of their care after arrival, my responsibility ends 72 hours after delivery. Keep in mind dragons do need to adjust to there new cage and surroundings . If I don't hear from you within 8 hours after delivery I assume you are delighted with your new Dragon and are Transaction is complete.... "

No problem :). So anyone else? I know quite a few people bought from her. She's a fairly known breeder.

I am so sorry to hear that your beardie has adenovirus; it must be incredibly hard for you and for him. :(

My baby Saphira came from rainbow bearded dragons, and so far her development has been great. She is a "little" fatty, at ten months and one week she's almost 20 inches long, and last week when I weighted her she was sitting at 840 grams. Last year (November) I treated her for pinworms and flagellates, but even then she was unfazed by the treatment, and she continued to grow.

Where did you test your beardie for adenovirus? What signs of sickness did he show? I always wanted to test Saphira, but I kept postponing the test. Your experience worries me; therefore, today I signed up for testing on thepaths.info website.

Do you mind if I am asking how old is your beardie, and who are the parents?

Best wishes to you and your beardie baby.

I think this is more of a tactic of framing. I paid for Saphira (21 grams and 7 inches little cuddle bug) $175 without shipping, which in my opinion is not as much as a "collector edition" :laughhard: , but definitively not a low-end price either.

Crisandre, your beardie is 840 grams ? Wow, what an appetite ! LOL ! Just checking to see if that is a typo. I know we want our beardies to be big + healthy, but at 840 that weight is quite high. Over time it can be very negative on their health, contributing to fatty liver disease. A healthier weight for a 20" dragon would be in the 500 gram range.

I don't want to hijack Raicardso's topic, so today I will start a new one about Saphira, her weight, and her diet. She is a hefty girl, and sometimes I worry about that. I just weighted her, and took pictures: she's 856 grams. I'll post everything on the new thread.

It's all good, don't worry about the "hijacking" :)

I tested my boy zues for the virus at the vet. They withdrew blood and sent it to a lab. He had a couple little signs of sickness that i just figured was due to the season, he slowed down eating a bit and wanted to bask more. Then the big sign was that he stopped eating. He would literally not eat anything. He dropped about 40grams in a week and a half. We got his weight back around 620g (around his normal weight). His weight currently goes up and down but not by a lot. He's currently stable other than the fact he won't eat and we have to force feed him.

I strongly advise you to get yours tested because ours are from around the same time. Zues is close to 10 months and he is from the Julius/Rosie clutch.

Thank you for your answer. It really breaks my heart to hear that :( . Rosie and Julius are also Saphira's parents, and I am pretty sure that our babies come from the same clutch. I will definitely test her. I also think that at least two other people on this forum have their babies from the same parents, and clutch. I am calling my vet right to ask if they test for adenovirus and to make an appointment.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
