I had a near disaster today from my lighting setup, so I'm looking for a better way to have the lights installed. I usually slide the lid to the side, with lights sitting on top of it, when I need to feed Yoshi. However, I recently got a new tank and didn't realize that when I did that, the main heat lamp was directly over a plastic brace. It was halfway melted through when I realized it, and luckily none of the hot plastic dripped on my lizard! i know to be more careful now, but does anyone have an idea for a lighting platform? I don't mind building it. There really isn't anything around the tank that I can use to clip the lights onto. Perhaps I could use something like a curtain rod or cheap wooden dowel from a craft store and somehow elevate it over the tank? Also, I will likely be getting a longer UV lamp than the one in the picture. Ideally, I'd like to have all of the lights independent of the lid (I don't want to stack anything on the lid.) Ideas are welcome!
