So I'm building my female dragon Lizzie a new enclosure and the interior is going to be made out of foam. I saw this enclosure on Pinterest and I'm planning on building similar hides at the bottom where she can sleep/brumate.

Here is the enclosure on Pinterest

My question is would I be able to put some sort of soil/sand inside the hides for her if she wants to dig/ lay eggs? Would it work as a lay box if I made a large enough hide and would it be safe as far as possible impaction?

That looks really nice. I like the solid clay like surfaces which is similar to their natural habitat. As far as dig boxes go it won't likely be harmful it's just that it could be very messy and a pain to keep cleaning up. It's best to keep the dirt and sand in a separate bin to be used when needed. They do like to burrow though. I've found that putting down small fleece blankets or a pile of fleece scraps allows them to burrow and is much easier to clean.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
