Can anyone help me with a morph ID?

We just got this little guy last night, kind of spur of the moment. My fiance came into my life when my beardie was already full grown and has wanted to raise her own. So this is Rocco.

I think he may be a hypo?? His nails are less than black-- a brown color really. Little dude has already nommed 45+ crickets in two days. I am going to try him on some greens today.

This is our 2011 beardie, Zeke. We're really stoked to have another!

Hi there....I agree that the baby is a standard, but not a leatherback or a hypo. And a leatherback is actually a morph, but the baby is neither.Of course he's cute as a button. :)

Yeah, my red is a leatherback and I don't think this one is. He was labelled a "fancy" bearded dragon at Petsmart-- God knows what. Why is he so much lighter than all the other normals they had? Just a variance? Will he stay lighter for life?

assuming the price difference was 10 bucks like it is at my local stores you might want to go back and check to see if he is in fact a "fancy" variant.

I got him on sale for $65, and it seems very random how they label them-- so I doubt there'd be any point in debating it. He's still cute, healthy and eating like a little pig. He's also super personable. It's $65 well spent.

There's no such thing as fancy bearded dragons it's petsmarts way of making more money that's all it is. All those pet shops just want to move animals as fast as they can get em inn and get em out quicker they don't give a **** about the animals just the Buck they make.

I know that it's a made up term-- but that's what he was sold as. Usually it's because it's not a standard, which is why I asked what people thought. Either way I'm very happy with him.

The name " fancy " is what they use for any dragon that is a leatherback or if they have high color dragons. Yours may have been mislabeled or it may actually be that their breeder/supplier raises citrus [ yellow tone ], in which case it may have come from yellow parents.

There's no way at all to tell unles you see pics of the parents. The reason that I mentioned " citrus" is because they generally do start out looking like standard colored dragons, [ light or darker grey ] but the color can change dramatically to gorgeous high yellow [ citrus or citrus tigers ] So you'll have to wait + see if any big color changes come as he grows, but either way he IS a pretty boy and if he's healthy + eating well that's a great bonus. :)

BG23 your link/photo didn't show up. But no, you can not tell how a baby will turn out until it's older....almost any long time breeder will tell you that. I raised a lot of babies, they can start out dull + explode with color or with a bold pattern , then become nearly patternless....you never know. Just check out this link....citrus tiger babies look nothing like the parents. Look at the parents of these, then look at the babies.

Well if we are talking about 3 day old hatchling then Yea I understand what you mean but after a few weeks you can tell no problem go to YouTube and search bearded dragon morph tells you everything you need to know.

They change constantly as they grow....3, 4, 8, 10 weeks they will not look like the end result. I raised reds, leatherbacks, high color yellow [ citrus ] and normal phase bred to trans. dragons. I know about morphs, been around them for 20 years. :)

^ I will second that. I have had dragons colors explode out of no where even as late as 5 months. When they are growing, every shed is an opportunity for more melanocytes and chromatophores to present themself in the new layer of scales. Thats not to say it isnt possible to look at a dragon and know what it will look like or what kind of morph it is, because sometime it is obvious what it is. But on the flip side of that, there will also be times that the dragon doesn't display any indicative sign of what morph it is until it is older in age, as is not uncommon with citrus dragons.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
