Mimi has been recovering from a minor Respretory Infection.
I have no Reptile Vets near me, so I took the advice from the local
reptile specialty store and was told to treat it like a cold
and just make her tank warmer to cook the infection out.
She was doing a little better but all of a sudden has been even worse.
She is expelling huge amounts of foul smelling phlegm from her mouth
and my boyfriend finds she will fall off her log at night on to her back and not roll over.
We live an hour apart, and she is with him.
He told me that pinching her leg, she wont move it and doesn't try to eat or move around.

I rushed down to his place today to take care of her.
When I first got here she looked fine and alert to me.
After examining her I realized that one eye is completely swollen shut
while the other is starting to get there.
I tried to put her in the bath but she went completely limp and i thought she died in my hand.
Then she woke up and did it again. According to my boyfriend, she has been doing this a lot.
I went on here and found out the puffy eyes could be from the UVB light,
so I went to PetSmart and bought a new hood and linear Repti-Sun 10.0 bulb.
I took all of her stuff out and have a huge bath towel laid inside
to keep her comfy and higher up to the lights at the same time,
I don't want her falling down anymore.
I bought her some Fulker's Repti-Boost to give her vitamins and hopefully a little energy.
I also put in an order at Beautiful Dragons for some Baytril on express order.

Is there anything else you guys think I should do?

Poor Mimi ! She sounds very serious. If you don't know the dosage for Baytril, p.m. Drache613. You may also need a probiotic like Acidophiliz or Benebac. For hydration, I would just add extra water with the Baytril or Repta boost, skip the baths, she could easily aspirate now.

When I thought mine was going to go (thankfully did not), I soaked her in pedialyte so she could hydrate thru her vent. I bought a small cat box and just soaked her bottom. I also have an electrolyte spray from Four Paws that I bought from work.

Im sorry you haven't a herp vet near. :( How are her teeth? Do they looked caked up with gunk from the phlem? Do her swollen eyes have any discharge or caked bits?

I know, it is unfortunate.
I don't know about her teeth, she wont open her mouth unless I put the syringe in.
Her eyes are super watery, dark too. Not really much caking...

On the plus side, right after I put up the new UVB she got a little active.
She actually is sitting right under it now with her head up, which is great.
She looks happy under the lights and is soaking up the UVB like a champ.
I even think her eyes are going down a bit, but that might be wishful thinking...

Ok, I was going to say if there seemed to be anything coming out of the eyes, that Fluker's makes an excellent eye rinse. It does a real good job clearing things up. I even have used it to rehab a turtle some ***** left outside and had developed a fungus on all of his skin

My vet gave me an antiseptic for Fluffy's teeth and gums, so I was thinking maybe one could help with the smelly mouth.

I hope her eyes are swelling less as well =)

I know there is a directory of herp vets - http://www.herpvetconnection.com/ maybe they will have someone listed near you?

It really has!
The eye that was less swollen is opening a bit.
The dark liquid in her eyes dried them close and
I took a wet paper towel and dabbed at them and got most of it off.
I fed her and her teeth are a little yellow, but not caked.

She was going through another bout of intense stillness.
After putting her back under the lights she eventually
raised her self up, still not moving much more than that though.

Hello,

I would get some Baytril ordered as soon as you can as that is a pretty bad respiratory infection going on right now.
Here is a site you can order the Baytril from, with no prescription. I can help you dose it also, if you need help.

http://www.allbirdproducts.com/newproductpages/baytril.html

Continue to keep her tank around 80 over night. I would avoid baths so she doesn't get chilled, too.
Is she eating anything right now?

I already ordered it and it should (hopefully) be here tomorrow.
The tank is staying nice and warm.
She really hasn't been eating on her own.
We have been having to force feed her
Repti-Boost and baby food chicken.

Her eyes are completely open now and not swollen,
they are still a bit dark, but not as liquidy.
I will clean them again tomorrow,
but she should be good after that.
she is so much more active than ever.
I can tell she still is suffering from the URI and the phlegm,
so I cant wait for the Baytril!

I would very much love some help with the dosage, thank you <3

Hello,

Great, sorry I missed that. Did you get the Baytril today or will it come tomorrow?
How is she doing today, any improvements?
I hope you are getting her to eat some daily & that she is doing better. Keep us posted on her.
Let me know when you get the Baytril & if you need help with dosing it.

Thanks,

Tracie

Mimi is doing so much better!

She is moving around, very alert.
No problems with her eyes at all anymore.
She still wont eat on her own,
but has been ok about drinking water.
I still have to control the water because
she drinks too much at once
then gets it stuff in her throat.

Im not sure if I am feeding her the right amount ?
I give her about 1ml of chicken baby food
1/2 ml of carrot and 2ml of water
all syringe fed.
Let me know, too much, too little?

The Baytril hasn't arrived yet,
hopefully will be here Monday.
I still have her on a huge towel in her tank.
Just soaking up the UVB and loving it.

Hello,

Hopefully it will be there on monday for you then.
That is great she is doing a little better right now! How much does she weigh? You can give .5 to 1mls per 50 grams of weight, on average. Does she like the baby food then? The amount you are giving seems about right for her.
At least she is alert, that is a very good sign right now. Are you able to keep the tank around 80 or so overnight also?

I hope she continues to improve.

She is doing a lot better.
Her tank is usually 100-90 during the day and 85-75 at night.
She is active and alert.

The medicine just got in!
The problem is that I don't know how much she weighs
and I don't have access to a scale...
She loves the baby food but
has still shown absolutely no interest in crickets or superworms.

Hello!

Great she is getting better now.
If you can estimate her weight somewhat, I can help with dosing.
At least she is active & basking. How is her appetite right now, nonexistant then?

Have you tried the baby food with her yet?

I just gave her the medicine and just guessed.
I know she is above 100 but im pretty sure below 150,
so I just did the dosage for 100.
He appetite is low, but she will eat the baby food.
She still wont touch bugs though.
We give her chicken and carrots,
I know she loves carrots and seems to tolerate the chicken.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
