We have had Lance for over 5 years. We purchased him from someone off Kijiji and they said he was about 2 1/2. So that makes him about 7-8 years old.
A little history: shortly after getting him we found this wonderful site and changed everything. The lighting, substrate, housed him seperately, gave vitamins and calcium, regular baths, you name it we had to change it all. He wasn't eating well at all even with the proper care. Turns out he most likely had a mild case of MBD and the only thing wrong with him was he had only 4 teeth left in his mouth. Since that discovery we have syringe fed him daily (with the exception of when he decided to brumate). We fed him baby food, chicken and veggies. He was surviving very well on it until recently. He gained weight and managed to live happily until just recently.
The last week he has become very lethargic and refuses to eat anything. We have seen him move very little and when he does he flips himself onto his back. Several times we have had to flip him back right because he doesn't have the strength to do it himself.
I think it's almost his time to cross the bridge. We have all been giving him extra cuddle time and are reassuring him it's okay to cross. We are trying to make his last few days as comfortable as possible. Our kids, although teenagers, are sad to say good bye to our first Beardie.
